hi am looking for some advice regarding a pre-crossed postal order obtained recently as a deposit on a newspaper holiday promotion which has been returned to me uncashed (promotion oversubscribed), my bank will not touch it because its got a printed name on it and the local p.o i got it from also says somewhat abruptly that there is nothing they can do about a refund.
basically, what i would like to know is : is a refund for an uncashed pre-crossed postal order possible? and if so how do i go about it. if relevant the amount concerned is £50. face value?

AFAIK refunds are possible call 08457 223 344 and they can issue a refund if the order has not been cashed.
The PO are wrong they can refund but looking round the interweb some of the smaller POs are not aware as its quite rare that they need refunding apparently.

The originating post office can refund - but you need the original receipt. You'll lose the fee you paid...

Post Offices in the UK can certainly refund if the receipt is presented and the issue date is in the last 6 months. If it was issued in another country (e.g. The Isle of Mann) then your only option may be to write to customer services.
