Hi everyone,
First time I used Royal Mail was back in November.
I sent a registered mail from Portugal, and it should've arrived back then in London. It still didn't.
I called my local postal service and they have started an investigation, but as my complaint was only done on the 11th of December I will have to wait until the 11th of February until the investigation is complete. (investigations may take up to 2 months which means that almost every investigation will take up to 2 months to be done...).
After this bad experience, I had, again, to use Royal Mail services this January.
Again, I sent registered mail to London and, again, it got stuck in Langley HWDC.
The bad part: this time, I sent two packages.
The situation is very distressing. First, because these are professional portfolios, that I was asked to send in orther to reply to job opportunities.
Secondly, no one seems to be able to help... I called today to the Royal Maill Call Center, with my tracking number. They couldn't tell me anything more than what I already knew: all 3 packages are in Langley HWDC.
They also told me that they can't speak with anyone at Langley until my local postal service starts an investigation.
I told them that they already had started one, for the first package, and these two, although they have already started another 2 investigations, could take, again, up to 2 months to be complete, meaning that, meanwhile, I would lose again thess job opportunities, since the companies I am applying to don't accept digital files being sent over e-mail...
If anyone does have a contact/phone number so that I could reach someone at Langley HWDC to solve this problem I would be rather thankfull.
Thank you.
Tiago
P.S. - Reading the forums one sees that problems about mail lost at Langley HWDC are recurrent... does anyone have an explanation/guess for why this happens?

Re: Mail stuck in Langley HDWC
we share the same fate, my friend.
explanation?
a lot of parcels coming in, poor supervision, lack of work ethics, responsibility, common decency..
how else could one explain not scanning the tracked parcels which is a service I pay for?

Best guess would probably be that customs don't have enough equipment and/or staff to do whatever checks they do on items entering the UK.umtemaisoutrote wrote:P.S. - Reading the forums one sees that problems about mail lost at Langley HWDC are recurrent... does anyone have an explanation/guess for why this happens?
btw, could you try burning the files onto a CD then sending them letter rate (off-hand I don't know if a CD-ROM can be sent at letter rate) it may be worth asking your local post office if a CD-ROM can be sent letter rate
