Does the Mail Collect service include parcels? are they kept back at the delivery office too? thanks.

Yes... however, in my experience, it's usually 2 different people sorting the mail and the parcels. The person sorting the mail will get a card saying there's a mail collect for such and such address, and that'll be in the frame where your mail is sorted. The people who sort the parcels and then the people who deliver them later on don't have a frame and nowhere to put such info. So, unless your local DO is highly organised (doubtful) some parcels may have delivery attempted.
