International Mail Delay

Post by pjay60 »

I may be a bit impatient here but I purchased an item last weekend (5/8/2012) and it was to be shipped from the UK to me in Ireland. I also ordered more items a couple of days after this which have all arrived by now. I buy a reasonable amount of items from the UK and shipping generally takes 3-4 days.

The item I purchased last weekend has the following in the Track and Trace:
Your item, posted on 06/08/12 with reference RJ*********GB has been received at our international mail centre and is being made ready for despatch overseas.
The item has been in the international mail centre all week. I suppose I'll just have to wait a bit more but could anyone shed any light as to why it could take so long in the international mail centre?

Thanks guys.

Give the number a try here: http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Does the item show on the track and trace for the Irish equivalent of royal mail?

Looking at the "RJ" part of the number, if it was sent via International Signed For then it may get treated as a normal 1st class item once it reaches Ireland. Best guess is that it's stuck at Irish customs atm

Thanks for the reply SpacePhoenix.

When I enter the tracking number in the link you provided I get the following:

Does this mean that it is still at Heathrow?

As far as I know, An Post in Ireland is the equivalent here. The track and trace number is not recognised on the Irish tracking system.

It's most likely in Ireland now and is probably being treated by Irish post as a 1st class recorded so the next entry will probably be when delivery is attempted

Thanks again SpacePhoenix.

Hopefully I see some progression tomorrow. Can't remember a delivery taking so long from the UK.

International Signed For gets no tracking once it reaches Heathrow and is despatched. You get a signature on delivery, but that's it.

If you wanted tracking, you'd go for Airsure, but that gets no signature.

Thanks Minischoles. No sign of it today.

I did receive items that were dispatched on the 9th from the UK.

I rang Royal Mail and they told me that it is in Ireland and the delay is with the Irish postal company.

I rang the Irish postal company and they told me that they don't have it and it is still in England. They said that it hasn't left Heathrow and that the tracking information will be updated once it is despatched from Heathrow.

Still no sign of this.

Contacted Royal Mail again. They have said that it appears to be stuck in Heathrow but could offer no reason as to why. After 20 working days I can make a claim.

The latest. The package (hopefully) appears to have turned up after the sender contacted them.
Fingers crossed it gets here this time.

At a guess I'd say Plymouth Mail Centre. Maybe it's been put in the wrong bag and gone for a little trip.

Hi!
I have the same problem like You, pjay60. I ordered something from UK (Luton) to Poland and I didn't get it, with the same message as a result. First of all, on Royal Mail's "Track & Trace" was written something understandable like my item was sending etc., then I could read that my item is in Germany- despite the fact it took much more days than declared 3-5, I was absolutely calm that I'll receive it soon, because it's on my border.... And then, on Track & Trace the message had changed: "Your item, posted on 06/12/12 with reference RJ*********GB was delivered in LUTON PDO on 15/01/13.", and "Thank You for using our services" or something similar, like everything went OK O_o (or I don't understand this message correctly, this "in" is a little bit unclear for me in this context). So I understand it just went back where it came from. I contacted with shop where I bought it and they said they don't received my item back, and confirmed it again 4th February. I gave up for long time and today I just checked again, whether something new appeared on "Track & Trace"... And yes, now I have message this kind: "Your item, posted on 06/12/12 with reference RJ*********GB has been received at our international mail centre and is being made ready for despatch overseas.". Theoretically I understand each word of this information but really I don't understand anything. It's excatly 3 months later and I have no idea what's goin' on- which overseas, from my side to UK side or the other way round?! Or generally somewhere in space...
So I'm really intrested, did You received Your item already? To be honest I really want to finish this circus and get the parcel or money, with accent on parcel...
Sorry for mistakes in this English message in advance.
Cheers :)

If it's not arrived within the time scale set by the sender of the parcel (I assume they didn't say when you bought it "may take months to arrive"?!), then you need to get them to sort it by either issuing you a refund or resending the item. Then, they have the hassle of where the other item is, not you.
Does this rag smell of chloroform to you?

Of course I know, but unfortunately the seller is immature and he pass the back, I have choice to risk twice and pay the guy for second dispatch or get the refund without first postage costs, so I'm just trying to find out the situation and get this parcel.
I tried to cooperate with the seller but he doesn't intend to.
I'm still waiting for answer from pjay69, or someone who just can tell me what the last communique means.
