Where's my postie gone?
Wasn't sure where to put this. I've known my postie for ages and he is a fellow biker but he has disappeared and has been replaced to some different people. Who we get I don't know, someone different every day gets dropped off in our street. A van will fly down the street during the busy school run time
, slam the brakes on and someone gets out. Mail is now delivered at any time during the day, 8:30 am, 11:00 am, 2:00pm, 4:30pm seem to be the favourite times. What is going on? Wheres my postie gone?

Literally "Out of the mouths of children"
But mathew has it spot on. Royal Mail Letters is going through a modernisation process (check out the 2010 section) and eventually all deliveries will be from vans and/or trolleys. It sounds as though your area has under gone a park and loop revision where 2 posties work out of 1 van delivering everything in that area. The reasons why the times are so varied is probably because they are still in the bedding in period and it will either eventually settle down and you'll have the same people delivering at roughly the same time. Or Royal Mail management will relaise that more changes are needed and they will re-jig everything again.
If its the first scenario it will settle down in a few months. If as seems common Royal Mail have underestimated the work load then it could go on for quite some time.
Good luck.

Re: Where's my postie gone?
I will have to try and catch one of them to find out my old posties full name, see if he is on Facebook. He was on about taking voluntary redundancy about 18 months ago and was told he'd got it but couldn't leave just yet. Maybe he's finally been allowed to go?!

Re: Where's my postie gone?
If its different posties and such a wide range of delivery times i would say it is down to lapsing. This is Royal Mail saying we dont have enough work to do. So what they do is collapse so many rounds and then split them up between the remaining posties. Some will deliver this extra work first, some at the end of the day.
