Special Delivery Next Day

Post by jethro »

Trying to trace a Special Delivery 1:00pm Next Day. It was posted from Macclesfield, SK11 8PS on Friday 28 January 2011 at 10:43am, going to Southampton, SO19 1DG. When I track on the website it just says "your item was posted in Macclesfield and is progressing through the network". Tried ringing Hedge End Delivery office, Southampton, but no reply. I would really like to know what has happened to this parcel please somebody?

 Think you will find that on delivery is not gauranteed for saturdays, only weekdays.

Yes thankyou I Know but it is now Tuesday and delivery was guaranteed by 1:00pm Monday at the latest. Also the item should be scanned and tracked on each leg of the journey. That's what I pay the extra for, or am I misinformed!!! :arrrghhh

From experience I would guess that delivery has been attempted yesterday and the postie has carded the receiver He or she has then taken it to the nearest Post Office for return into the system. The reason I think this is because occasionally I have done the above and out of interest I do a track and trace on the system the message "progressing through the network" is usually what happens

If you can't contact the DO then try the twitter team @RoyalMail they will have a track and trace audit systen so they can check its progress rather than just see the latest update.

Good luck,

I thought SO19 was Bitterne Manor not Hedge End Delivery Office.

Is the track and trace we use in locker much different to what the customers have access to? Should be able to call any office and they can do a complete trace.

Been in contact with the addressee. The parcel has been redelivered today after leaving a card on Saturday, however when I track and trace it still says, "Item ************** was posted at 2 - 3 Tytherington, SK10 2HB on 28/01/11 and is being progressed through our network for delivery. " Obviously not being scanned by anyone but the receiving office. This really is very poor service and people not doing their job properly. No excuses !!!

Yes the one in the locker room or any RM computer I think, provides an audit trail, whereas the On line Customer Track and Trace only provides the current status. That in itself presents problems because the system uses inane statements like "progressing through our Network" which means absolutely nothing to a customer.

I think the Track and Trace system RM use needs updating and making more customer friendly, I have had stuff delivered by City Link, DHL and even UPS and they show an audit like trace on the cosignment and whilst there delivery methods leave a lot to be desired sometimes, at least I was fairly confident where it was in their system.
