What is not happening at West Pikerro sorting office?
West Pitkerro serves DD4 & DD5 postcodes. I have been waiting for First Class mail / periodicals and parcels posted around 23 - 26 November. I have received a few Second Class items of mail dated 3 & 4 December. The parcels are all Christmas gifts for family members and were ordered in November to ensure this type of problem would not be encountered.
What is going on and when will it be resolved?

What has happened is a combination of poor weather throughout the country and a change in working practices at the D.O....when will it be resolved?.....http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... d5#p336169" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The reason that you've had more recent post, but not the older ones. Is because the performance figures for RM sites, goes on how many failed items there are. NOT how much they failed by. So whenever things go wrong. Anything which has already failed it's deadline, is put to one side, until all the current post has been shifted. It's not something which those of us who do the work are happy about. In fact, many of us are ashamed of such practices. But sadly, that's the regieme we have to work in. Everythings based around bonuses for the Managers. And if they fail to meet their performance targets, they personally, end up severely out of pocket.
It's not something which happens often. But whenever there are serious problems, as in your area. It is a temporary (but no less embarrasing for that) problem, which will be resolved as soon as they solve the problems they're having, and catch up the backlog. If you look back at the posts on here, from the aftermath of our last strike. You'll see just how angry and upset many of us were by the practice. And just how bad it's been in the past. It should be delivered in the order it was recieved! Why should they be allowed to create unneccessary, further delays, when it's not the fault of the customers, or the Public in general?
I'm just sorry that it's affecting you at the moment, and that I couldn't give you better news.

Royal Mail has gone into panic mode over these failing offices and are throwing vast amounts of money at them to resolve the problems...if it is humanely possible to get your late parcels to you...they will.
It will now come down mostly to whether management are up to the job as the resources are there.

Re: What is not happening at West Pikerro sorting office?
I'm just glad they're getting the extra resources. Situations like this should never be allowed to happen!
It should become compulsary to sort/deliver the mail in the order we recieve it. And the sooner the better!!!!!
Hopefully the backlog will be shifted soon.

Re: What is not happening at West Pitkerro sorting office?
Thanks for some of the informative comments - I had no idea that items were handled to keep the Manager's bonuses as high as possible!! What a joke. Tell that to everyone who pays to send items First Class!
Just to correct some of the other info mentioned - it would be lovely if we were getting a delivery every other day as stated - we have had only 3 deliveries in the last 12 working days! - I have First Class mail that was posted to me between 23-26 Nov and none of it has arrived yet. There is also a comment that puts it down to bad weather - which again is untrue - and as for enough resources to do the job, the posties say they cannot do what is required with the numbers they have.

Re: What is not happening at West Pikerro sorting office?
You're right about the lack of resources generally. But I was hoping that from what Fishtank said. That enough extra resources were being put in place to fix the problem. Sadly, I don't know for certain, as don't work at that site.
You're also right, that it's wrong for items to be delayed longer than neccessary, so that Managers can get their Bonuses. It's a practice which started a few years ago, and disgusts us, at least as much as it does you. Obviously, the backlog will be shifted ASAP. It's just that they insist on shifting ALL the current mail, before even starting on anything which has already failed.

Re: What is not happening at West Pikerro sorting office?
There is a big difference between a paper boy and a postie. A paperboy has about 20-30 houses to go to, a postie has between 400-900.maxine.clark wrote:we had no post for a week when the weather was bad....but the paper boy made it every day!

Would you be happy if your postie broke his neck trying to deliver your birthday present!?

We are doing our best but TBH we are only the donkeys, your anger needs to be aimed at management for not providing the resources for Posties, or keeping customers informed.maxine.clark wrote:I am still waiting for my birthday present posted by my brother in London on 25th November........WHEN WILL IT ARRIVE?fishtank wrote:As you're probably aware Dundee East is a hot topic at the moment.Huboman wrote:West Pitkerro serves DD4 & DD5 postcodes. It's also worth noting, that there has been an increase in the number of Posties being injured, due to slips. And that's just in the conditions that they're agreeing to go out in. Delivery Posties are people too.

According to one article 50+ serious injuries during the last period of ice and snow - and the forecast does not look good -
