Where`s my mail
Hi
I live in Middlesex and fall under the Uxbridge sorting office postcode. I am currently experiencing problems with my mail not arriving on time or not at all. So far this week I have four items of mail which seem to have vanished of the face of the earth.
>>> Driving license posted Monday 22nd from Swansea.
>>> Birth certificate also posted Monday 22nd from Worcester.
>>> Small parcel also posted Monday 22nd from Fife, Scotland.
>>> Worse of all a parcel recorded signed for posted on Thursday 18th from Co/Dublin.......Just to add I posted a chq from Middlesex to Co/Dublin which only to Three days recorded signed for.
I have tried to contact royal mail only to be fobbed off and spun the same line of dribble and given no advice whatsoever. Is this normal for royal mail to take so long or is there an issue with Uxbridge sorting office who consistently ignore the phone when I call them............V poor customer service!!! I have also noticed that our postman has changed and wonder if this has anything to do with their shoddy service. As you can see above Two of the items listed are very important to me and are needed at the latest by Tuesday 2nd March, if not I`ve lost a job!!! I should be working at Heathrow and need this as I.D.
I hope someone can answer to my problems
Regards

Re: Where`s my mail
sounds like an issue with your local office, most 1st class items should be received withing 2 or 3 days, cant really tell you why unless the people who posted these items to you are telling you fibs about the date they actually posted them which quite often they do.

Re: Where`s my mail
Hi
The DVLA have assured me that my license was posted on Monday as did the Registrar at Worcester county council with regards to my B/Certificate. I even paid Worcester council to the tune of £22 for the express service as these documents are needed as a matter of urgency. Whats annoying me more than anything is the fact that Uxbridge sorting office wont answer their phone, I have let it ring for ten mins at one point but to no avail. I rang Pinner sorting office and they answered within three rings, unfortunately they cant help.
Regards
Brett

Re: Where`s my mail
the managers tend not to answer phones because they dont want the grief. £22 pounds for postage is a lot, if you paid £22 then they should have sent it by royal mail special delivery which is guaranteed for next day, they obviously havent done this for you because special deliverys very very rarely fail, if i were you id ring them and ask them what type of postage they used and ask why they didnt send it special delivery when you paid £22. Because of fraud it might not even be coming through royal mail because a lot of passports dont these days. When they do eventually arrive post back here and let me know what type of postage service they used. If it was 1st class royal mail or anything better than that then I cant see any reason you havent got it by now or today at the latest unless there is a problem with your local office but i shouldnt imagine so unless its snowed there, are you still getting other mail? or no mail at all? If i was a betting man i would bet on the dvla etc fobbing you off on the phone.

Re: Where`s my mail
You need to get hold of the tracking code for your B/Cert if they have sent it by RM. Then go to http://www.royalmail.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and put the code into the tracking box, that should tell you where the item is at the moment.

Re: Where`s my mail
Right ok,
The package from Fife, Scotland arrived today
Still shouldn't have taken so long according to Pinner sorting office.
The B/Certificate wasn`t sent special delivery as promised and paid for its been sent second class.....hopefully Monday, apologies for the moan.
The parcel from Ireland has been stuck at Langley Nr Heathrow since 23rd.........No excuse for this I can walk to Langley from my location.
The Driving license is nowhere to be seen and considering I only live the other end of the M4 its not like I live in the wilds.
Uxbridge sorting office, shame on you for not bothering to answer the phone. Probably to busy drinking
.If Pinner can do it within three rings why couldn't you.......I let it ring for 10mins at one point, should have let it ring all day.
BTW I am not implying everyone within royal mail are useless, just the management
for letting the system get so poor. Do they run the NHS too ?
Many thanks for the advice given.
Brett

hehe i'll agree with you the managers are useless, all the posties can deliver is whats put in front of them in the morning. I would claim your money back for that birth cert if i were you if you paid for special and they sent it 2nd class.

Re: Where`s my mail
My Dad ordered a copy of a death certificate from our local council.
After 10 days still no certificate so he phoned them and they were adamant it had been sent off and suggested that it was the postman to blame!! I'M ALSO MY DAD'S POSTMAN!!
Anyway it turned up a week later and had been franked the day before it arrived.
Don't always believe the senders. It's all too easy to blame RM for things that mostly arn't our fault.

Its true and I will confess when I was working in Customer Care at a Mail Order company, the fall back excuse whenever an order was miss-labelled or overlooked, always blame Royal Mail. It is a British disease and one which I am duly embarrassed about.

"I even paid Worcester council to the tune of £22 for the express service" - but Special Delivery for a document would be just £4.95 ( or £10.85 delivered before 9am ) so with costing £22 either the council is ripping you off or they are using some other courier service.

Re: Where`s my mail
General Register Office, online, priority service Full/Short 23.00
That is the price for a Priority Certificate LL or £7 for the standard service. So looks like the council has ripped off this customer big time.

Re: Where`s my mail
Is it not that they charge more to rush the certificate through and not that they charge more for the postage, I know that passports can be done in a priority but it costs a lot more (and they just seem to give them to someone in a car to deliverStormproof wrote:General Register Office, online, priority service Full/Short 23.00

Re: Where`s my mail
I havn`t been ripped off as you put it I agreed to pay the £22 for the express service which should have included special delivery. Some twat a Worcester council took my money but only put it through to the registrars office as a standard service, trust me I will be getting my money back...........Talking of rip-offs I hear royal mail are putting the price of stamps up again. I expect this will be covering the costs of the managements bubbly at the end of the yearStormproof wrote:General Register Office, online, priority service Full/Short 23.00
