Envelope A4 mistake...

Post by swarfega »

I recently sent a envelope A4 size, with only one first-class stamp on it (very remiss of me, I know). Bearing in mind it should have had two first-class stamps on it - when can I expect my mail to be received by it's recipient? Is there any kind of delay, etc? Thanks

Your letter will be flagged up by Revenue Protection and the recipient will get a card telling them that they will have to pay the shortfall plus £1 handling fee, they have 3 weeks to pay it otherwise it'll be returned to you (provided that you put a return address on it).

Underpaid items are treated as Second Class, so a delay there too, and then a card will be delivered indicating a charge of £1.06 to be paid, i.e. £1 fee plus 6p deficiency of 42p second class large letter less 36p paid for first class letter.
