Delivered/not delivered? What's going on?

Post by nG »

Heya guys, looking for a little advice please :)

Anyhow i got a pretty expensive parcel sent to me (~£300) yesterday by Recorded special delivery to the centre of Edinburgh. I was told it should have been delivered today by 1pm. So 1pm comes and goes and i've received nothing. I made sure to be up and listening from 7am. At around 10am i track the parcel online only to be told its been delivered

I also had another parcel, the exact same size and contents/worth as the first one but this one was going to Northern Ireland (Home address). I knew that this was not guaranteed and was told by the on-line tracking and royal mail customer support that it hasn't been delivered but will be tomorrow. This is fine but i'm a little worried about the Edinburgh delivery. When talking to customer support they said they can't do anything and that the parcel had been delivered at 7.50am this morning. The local sorting office is closed so i can't really do much tonight. It crossed my mind that it may be with a neighbour but only one of the flats in my building had someone in who stated that hadn't signed for anything.

I know there is a good chance it's with another neighbour who hasn't got back from work but what should i do from here? I can phone the local sorting office tomorrow morning but without a card and no delivery signature available (At least for a few days) i'm kind of lost. If it helps its the South Gyle sorting office. If it comes down to it, what are my chances of getting my money back? As far as i know Special recorded next day items are insured for up to £500.

So...any advice/recommendations guys?

Thanks!!!

EDIT: The tracking number has just been updated to say they missed me and left a card...seems its not here though. This hasn't been the first time i havent got the card but i should be able to call round to the delivery office and pick it up if i have my drivers licence and bank statement with that address yeh?

Nope you would need the red card. However, if you explained the above situation and asked for redelivery they would be able to arrange that for you no problem.

If you are polite to the Callers Office staff they will do the best to help you, please remember that they are the face of RM but they did not do anything wrong and if you treat them with respect they will bend over backwards to help.

Totally agree. Approach the person in the callers office with courtesy and respect and you will get a 110% service. Go in shouting and swearing about it and......say no more.

i can tell you exactly whats happened (trust me ;)
the driver has gone out on delivery and most likely hasnt gained entry to your stair (let me guess gorgie/dalry?)
the PHG working in the office has confirmed 'blind' as they have to do as many duties in that DO dont return to the office or return late
so the PHG doesnt know whats delivered/undelivered

Prescan?! You can get your money back if you submit a claim to Customer Services, it will get investigated and treated as a good old denial of receipt.

It sounds like its been confirmed by default. Another way for the office to look good with their figures. eg100% otherwise the DOMs will be after an explanation. If i were you i'd pop down to the D/O and ask.
