My daughter has 2 flats she rents out and 2 separate redirection in her name.
This has been working well for over 12 months and more.
Last week we received a redirection with a different name and address but the ref No and expiry on the bottom right of the label is for 1 of my daughters flats!!!
It was a parking ticket for BP Stanstead. We sent it back "not known at this address." Another has arrived today, same name and address (not ours) a late payment request! I can keep sending back "not known" but this wont resolve the ref number issue.
It seems there is a system error?--or how can someone have my daughters reference number and alter redirections from his address to ours?
On the Post office redirections site I dont see where contact can be made, and I am sure the staff at the local PO wont know either.

Re: Redirection system error
Just to clarify - your daughter has asked for a redirection from two properties she owns to be delivered to your property?CheshireKot wrote: ↑17 Jun 2025, 16:07My daughter has 2 flats she rents out and 2 separate redirection in her name.

But now you are getting letters redirected to your address but the original name on the letter is not your daughter or her properties - is this correct?
I'm suspecting that perhaps the labels for your daughters properties have been inserted by mistake into the small plastic folder for a redirection for a different property and name.
There should be a contact number for redirections on the redirection paperwork your daughter has or if you or your daughter are on Twitter a good start is https://x.com/RoyalMailHelp
Don't put any personal information on your first contact with them, tell them the problem then they will ask you to DM them with details. It's a lot quicker than trying to phone.
Edit: if your daughter is still in the area of the properties it might be quicker to visit the Royal Mail Delivery Office that serves the flats and highlight the issue.
Further edit: a difficulty may be that you are not the originator of the redirection to get the problem solved. Your daughter may have to originate the complaint.
Further edit: Another option in addition to the above - I would insert any incorrectly redirected mail into a larger envelope addressed to:
FAO Royal Mail Manager responsible for redirections on : (the route your daughters properties are located - it should be a number followed by a name on the bottom of the sticky label) REDIRECTIONS ERROR
FREEPOST ROYAL MAIL (I wouldn't worry about putting a stamp on - it's not like Royal Mail are going to refuse a letter addressed to a delivery office)
Royal Mail Delivery Office xxxxxx (the office where the redirection is in place)
with a note stating you suspect there is a problem with redirected mail and that the mail enclosed is not for the redirection in question. Putting the incorrectly redirected mail back into the system as not known at your address is technically correct but is sort of exacerbating the problem. This option might get the problem sorted quicker too.

This is a Royal Mail product, not a Post Office one, you need to contact Royal Mail.CheshireKot wrote: ↑17 Jun 2025, 16:07On the Post office redirections site I dont see where contact can be made, and I am sure the staff at the local PO wont know either.

Re: Redirection system error
Thanks yellow belly for your reply I will send back as suggested to redirections manager.
I have identified that the issue is actually that the postcodes are similar and the machine that reads the postcode is where the error is. It's mixing up the 3 last figures 2EZ is correct but its reading 3BZ as if its 2EZ.
So much for AI

Thanks for update, it's interesting to find out what the cause of the problem is. The cause for the problem you've described is a bit strange though!CheshireKot wrote: ↑26 Jun 2025, 13:30Thanks yellow belly for your reply I will send back as suggested to redirections manager.
