We are not Royal Mail, so we can’t “locate and advise”.
They were collected 2 working days ago, so possibly not actually a major problem, despite the lack of tracking.
Do you mean wheels from toy cars or actual cars that people drive on the roads? If the latter then there could be the usual problems with residual oil on used car parts, or are they possibly over the 20kg per parcel weight limit?

Seems they were collected Saturday PM, they might not even have started moving from Plymouth until Monday morning.
Although Royal Mail work Saturday and Sundays I don't think either day is classed as a 'working day'.
I always tell people who I collect parcels from on a Saturday that the item will probably not start moving from the local delivery office until Monday as our duty times on a Saturday don't meet the last collection. They're better off taking it down to a local PO in the morning if they want items to start their journey on a Saturday.

Re: Two Tracked48 packages collected 1/2/25 Plymouth PL7. Current location unknown.
Thank you for the replies from snaggletooth and yellowbelly, whose points I will addresss below.
I was being rather diplomatic in my post. In fact the items appear lost/stolen, and I just needed some advice on how to progres this without waiting for 10 days (until the 13th Feb).
How do I know they are lost ?
The 2 items are from a set of 4 identical, two of which were delivered on 3/2/25, hence two lost.
Small self-adhesive labels were supplied and attached by the postman on collection.
Regarding your queries.....
(1) The accurate weight is exactly 19kg
(2) They are actual car wheels (used) in special shipping bags with handles (new), so no mess. They are very distinctive, see photo attached.
(3) I am unable to contact the sorting or delivery offices because RM prevents all contact of this kind. The generic helpline took no action when I called. I do not want compensation, I just want the items ASAP.
If the labels attached by the postman have fallen off, where do the items go ?
Why is it not possible to contact the relevant depots ?
Can someone from the Plymouth depot tell me what they did with them ?

Aah, right that makes it a bit clearer.
It does seem at the moment they're lost. Unfortunately the 'helpline' are just following their script/rules, that's why they've said
nothing can be done for a while (I suppose Royal Mail hope 'lost' items turn up within that time scale). You'll have to file a lost item claim eventually if they don't turn up, with all the details, photos etc you've provided on here.
Unidentifiable items go to the National Returns Centre, Belfast. If you put some other paperwork inside the items with your or the recipients details on it, that may help them to be identified for them to get to the sender or back to you.
Depot/delivery office phone numbers are not available otherwise each individual office would be inundated with calls everyday from people asking why hadn't such and such got their letter yet etc.

Re: Two Tracked48 packages collected 1/2/25 Plymouth PL7. Current location unknown.
Sorry to piggyback on this post, but I had an T48 item collected on Saturday 1st February too, and it has only just had an “item received” scan at the outward mail centre (my local one) this morning (Thursday).
Either the packet has sat at the local DO since Saturday and only got sent to the MC yesterday/today, or it’s sat at the MC in a York of work to be processed since Saturday/Monday. I’m not particularly happy about this, but my main point is that items do sometimes turn up in the system after a few days.
A Tracked 24 I sent on 20th December got a “received” scan the following day, but nothing else until 2nd January at the National Hub. It then took until 11th January to turn up at the destination mail centre. I know Christmas is busy, but that’s a very long time! Just saying.

Sorry to say 19kgs is far too heavy for us (we can only lift 11kgs or less) and should go to Parcelforce instead.
I would predict that this is a genuine reason for any delay

The maximum weight of any one parcel that can be sent via RM is 20kg.BenacreNick wrote: ↑06 Feb 2025, 10:59Sorry to say 19kgs is far too heavy for us (we can only lift 11kgs or less) and should go to Parcelforce instead.

Re: Two Tracked48 packages collected 1/2/25 Plymouth PL7. Current location unknown.
The OP has stated the weight of a single item is 19 kg which makes it a 'medium parcel'. However, just curious now as to whether
the dimensions of the items have exceeded those of a medium parcel for carriage by RM (61 cm x 46 cm x 46 cm)
and somebody or something has decided that they're too big - even though it appears two got through!
Depending on the wheel size, then adding the height of tyre onto the wheel (x2), plus a little bit for the outer packing could send
the size over 61 cm.
Dimensions limits are the same for both a personal and business customer via RM. Anything larger (dimensions wise) you're
directed to the Parcelforce website.
Additional edit: we get medium parcels through all the time that are bigger than those dimensions!!

Tyres are often send by RM, but are directed to manual processing at Mail Centre and can be sat in a york a bit longer. Another issue I see with packaging, it's a possibility that labels were lost. Were they affixed really well or just sticked to the bags?
