Outgoing International item stuck at Heathrow Worldwide Dc for 16 days

Post by Chromeheartsyoshi »

Hi I’m from Canada and I recently ordered a parcel containing a winter jacket from the UK. The last tracking update is stuck on “item received Heathrow Worldwide DC".
It's been like that for 16 days now. Does anyone know why it hasn't updated. Is my package still there? Did they forget to scan it when shipping it out the UK.
Items I ordered in the past would update on more time and say "Item leaving the uk".
Also this package is shipped with the service international tracked with end to end tracking. I know that Royal mail hands the package over to Canada post. But on there website it also does not have any update since Jan 16th. If it left the uk it should have said “ International item has left originating country and is en route to Canada” but in this case it did not update at all.
If anyone knows what's going on or had anything similar happen in the past please let me know. Thank you in advance and I appreciate it.

Given where it got stuck, this might be a problem with the contents. Is this made from down, feathers or fur?

Canadian customs are very strict with everything so it's probably stuck in Canadian customs

Anything which is made of parts of dead animals should ring an alarm bell because most countries have something in their customs rules about that. Looking at the shortened version of Canada’s rules on Royal Mail’s website, one of the restrictions is “dead animals, including wild birds or their parts”. Source:

Just to be clear, I am not saying that this item will definitely be confiscated or rejected. But I do think that it will be subject to additional checks by Royal Mail before allowing it to go on the plane, and again by Canadian customs if it gets that far. Those extra checks could take a couple of weeks in each case.

Under UK law it is the seller’s responsibility to get the item to you in the contracted time. So really you should be chasing the seller for updates and claiming a refund from the seller if it fails to arrive in time. They probably shouldn’t be offering this for sale as an export.

It’s synthetic down , i also ordered the same jacket before back in December in white. And it had no problems leaving the uk. I recently spoke seller and they called royal mail and they said there’s backlog and that latest it would arrive is Feb 19th. And it has to due with the Canada post strike we had back before Christmas. But it’s weird I called Canada post and they said there borders are clear and they have no more backlog . Plus my package has never even left the uk yet. Seller told me the lady on the phone said it’s still sorting at Heathrow. It’s been 19 days. Seller said everything is filled out correctly, weight, value, addresses . So idk but it’s frustrating and weird how during the actual strike my package shipped faster. Strike ended since Dec 17th, Canada post started accepting international mail again Dec 23rd, royal mail started shipping to Canada again Dec 30th.

Synthetic down is probably allowed in the mail, real down possibly not. But if the customs label just says “down” then RM may take it out of the system temporarily for further investigation.

Depending on the contract you have with the seller, you should possibly be claiming a refund from the seller by now.

As of today February 10th it has now updated again to “Item received London Central MC” , is that a good sign? Only thing it was already there before it went to Heathrow though on Jan 16th

London Central MC = Mount Pleasant, which is on the edge of Islington Borough. So quite a strong chance that it has been returned to sender.

Will they confirm that through the tracking info ? As of now it still says the destination is Canada.
