Tracked 48 bouncing between Bristol MC and Bristol East Central DO

Post by rmchatpaul2 »

Disclaimer: root cause of this is my error, I got the destination post code wrong... and I also did not provide my return address on or in the package.

So I understand that I have messed up, I am just looking for any advice to resolve the issue.

On Saturday I spoke to someone on 0345 7740740 who kindly informed me that he would message the MC with my home address details and also the correct destination post code, asking the MC to either correct the postcode for me or return the parcel to me (although he made it clear they are not supposed to change the post code).

The message did not get through or the parcel could not be found as the parcel continues to bounce around.

Is there anything else that I could try?

The packet sorting machine at Bristol will be reading the address that's encoded in the 2D barcode (the square barcode).

Which part of the destination postcode is wrong?

Yes, the guys on the phone have confirmed that the post code in the system is missing a digit.

The house number and street are correct, it is "just" the post code that is missing a digit.

I believe it is showing up as BS2 6YB when it should be BS21 6YB.

Thanks for the reply last night.

I was informed just now by the 0345 7740740 folks that there is another Maynard Close in Bristol - nightmare, my Maynard Close destination is just down the road in Cleveland

Is there any value at all in my going along to the MC and (politely!) accosting staff?

My parcel has significant value to me, and my understanding is that any claim to the National Returns Centre will not be successful as I did not include my return address on the parcel, so I'm very open to suggestions!

Not true. The whole point of submitting a description of the parcel on the lost mail form is so that the NRC can try to reunite you with the item.

If there was a return address on the parcel there would be no need to involve the NRC at all.

Ah, OK. Well that's a glimmer of hope - thank you.

Is there any suggestion on what can be done to contact/get a message to Bristol MC?

Well it appears it got delivered, possibly a human being (rather than a machine) was able to intervene in the process and direct the parcel appropriately.
