Item in Customs since 24th June

My wooden 20 inch doll has from US has been in customs since the 24th. Why do they keep it so long, do they think it is dangerous or something? They didn't send me a letter or email or text or anything about paying the fee, yet. Is it normal to be this long? :cuppa

The doll has a resin hook and a resin knife for its hands.

I think possibly they are keeping it so long because their x-ray saw the plastic prop knife on its hand and they think it is a dangerous weapon?

It is just a prop, though. But the knife is sharp enough that it could actually cut skin if you really wanted. But it is just a replica of a character from the movie puppet master (1989) and he has a knife for a hand.

Maybe they think it is a brilliant tactic of me smuggling weapons by attatching it to a doll.. :sad:

I ordered two others of him in the past and they all got through fine, but their knives weren't as convincing as this one. But it is just a doll, it isn't anything else.

Things get picked at random for extra checks and sometimes that does take a couple of weeks.

There are restrictions on sending knives through the post in the UK, for safety reasons. I think there are customs rules on importing them too. Customs might think that the sender has not filled the customs declaration in correctly. So lots of legitimate reasons for customs to hold this on top of random checks.
