Hi, my postie collected my parcels yesterday and there has been absolutely no movement. He seemed unsure of what he was doing so I think they've been misplaced. Unfortunately they're pricey items and I fear they me sat in some van. Is there a way to follow this up?

until after the last despatch into the distribution system so it may not have started moving (physically) from Romford until the next morning.
It should get another scan at some point in the system Friday afternoon/night/Saturday morning.
It's probably buried in the T&C's explaining that Special Delivery's collected by a postie on their delivery round may be affected in this way.

Thank you so much! I contacted royal mail and they said vy Friday it should be moving through the system but nothing seems to have progressed. So naturally wondering if it will get to the destination on time.

As I said, it's probably in the T&C's that if you use the Collection on Delivery Service a Special Delivery may not meet the timescales you expect that you would get if you took it down to the Post Office, merely because of the fact that it's a postie collecting your items as part of their normal delivery round. They then have to finish their round and may not meet the last despatch time into the distribution system for next day delivery.
It may get to its destination Saturday (but not necessarily by 1pm as you've just paid for 'normal' SD and not Saturday Guaranteed I'm assuming).
However RM may consider that as it was put into the distribution system today Friday (by default) and it's not Saturday Guaranteed the contract is for it to get to it's destination by 1pm the next 'working day' which is Monday......
