Letter stuck in TRANSIT in USA. Help please.

Writing on behalf of parents who have sent two documents to Bank of America via international tracked letter on the 11th January.

I have been tracking both and while one letter was signed/picked up on the 16th Jan. The second letter only just departed TRENTON NJ DISTRIBUTION CENTER on the 19th Jan, and the next update on the 24th said it was 'Moving Through Network In Transit to Next Facility.

I'm preparing for the worst... but is this normal for it to be stuck for this long. Is there a way to find out exactly where it is and if it's lost? I've looked on the royal mail and usps sites and other them searching for domestic mail, they only talk about making claims. We desperately need this letter to get to the destination.
