Item stuck at customs - what should I do next?

Post by Shads_ »

Hi everyone

I ordered something from the States around about a month ago now and I've been following the tracking ever since, it finally hit the UK on the 11th, after being shipped on the 22nd of August, and Royal Mail said it'd be delivered on the 12th, however there hasn't been an update since the 11th.
I reached out to Royal Mail on twitter, however they just stated what I already knew, that it was held at customs.

I'm getting a bit concerned that it might be lost, or just something has happened and it's been misplaced. It's not the first time I've ordered from the States and this specific company, but I'm not really sure what I should do next.

Should I continue to wait, should I contact the company and ask if they've heard anything from customs? (Incase there's something they have to do, I'm not too sure how it works) Or is there a chance the parcel has been lost or being held for some other reason? It's worth noting that I haven't been told I'd need to pay a customs charge on anything, as I've normally had an email from Royal Mail telling me that I would need to before it arrives, and then a grey slip through the door once it arrives at my local sorting center.

Here's a bit of info that might help people figure out what's going on:
Items are resin models
Content of the items are $144.19/£116.61 (Discount has been added, originally $172.94/£139.87)
Weight of parcel is 2.35 lb / 1.06kg
Asendia USA Tracking Number is F0BCAF826C1841E3A293
Royal Mail Tracking Number is LS423934948CH

Any advice on what might be going on, or what I should do next would be greatly appreciated and would definitely give me a bit of peace of mind.
Thanks very much!

Thats weird - US-tracked items usually end US not CH which is Switzerland.

Anyway - no I don't think its lost the last scan was last night so its either still in Customs or its about to be released from them.

With customs being a government agency RM can't hurry them up so it's a case of waiting for them to do what they need to do.

TBT, looking at the tracking I think it made it to the UK and then I reckon for some reason it got sent back to Switzerland, who have then sent it back to the UK.
