What is the state of international parcels right now?

I want to send a padded envelope to the US, but I've read a few horror stories on r/RoyalMail subreddit about packages being lost for months, so I'm wondering if it's worth it right now to consider alternative delivery options or if Royal Mail is still the best bet?

It’s been a bit of a mix bag really long delays and items getting lost.

I have gone to only using Royal Mail if I can’t get it cheaper through another company I use for International (found them during the cyber hack and are for some countries cheaper and better service)
