Hi all,
I posted a parcel at Hendon Post Office on the 1st April - tracking number DS103293575GB.
The parcel contains a ring that I insured for up to £1000. I dropped it off and asked the lady behind the counter whether the postman had come to collect yet, (it was about 11:50 on a Saturday morning and I know that the cutoff time is 11:45) and she said that he hadn't so I was expecting for it to leave the Post Office that day.
However I was informed by the consignee yesterday that he hasn't received the package and when I look at the tracking I can see that it hasn't updated since it was accepted at the Post Office on Saturday morning. The parcel is supposed to be delivered to an address in Edinburgh.
I'm very worried as I've sent many items with Special Delivery and I've never had this problem. The parcel was securely packed, with the address written clearly (I used a sticky label and also sellotaped over it).
I've raised it with the claims team but I've yet to receive a response. I was wondering how likely it is for the parcel to turn up? I know there's been loads of days where nothing would have happened given we've had the Easter holiday, but I'd have thought it might have been back in the system by now.
Any ideas on what might have happened to it will be much appreciated. Many thanks!

Re: Special Delivery parcel hasn't moved from the Post Office
Would you describe the item packet as particularly small? If so it may be stuck in a bag or other container? Address labels can become compromised no matter how careful a customer has been. It is possible it may turn up eventually however…
The long elapsed time and no delivery is not a good sign, even considering Easter etc, I would look at pursuing the compensation and reimbursement of postage which will be found in your favour.
It is v.rare for such an expensive item to go actually missing as opposed to just being delayed, but standards are slipping, I think someone will be getting their arse kicked if your taking £1k off them.

Re: Special Delivery parcel hasn't moved from the Post Office
Many thanks for the reply, yes the parcel is small - it’s only 19.5 x 9.5 x 9cm so it’s feasible that it’s stuck in a container somewhere, I just thought that it would have been picked up by now. I’ve put in a claim but I’d much rather the parcel turned up, so is it worth me telling the investigations team that it’s a small parcel? Not sure how likely it is they’ll get someone to look, given the amount of pressure I know they staff are already under, but given the value it might be worth their while…

Putting in a claim sometimes helps the item get delivered correctly. It may be that the address label has come off and they are storing it awaiting a claim.RachelS wrote: ↑13 Apr 2023, 07:22Many thanks for the reply, yes the parcel is small - it’s only 19.5 x 9.5 x 9cm so it’s feasible that it’s stuck in a container somewhere, I just thought that it would have been picked up by now. As to the investigation team give them as many details as possible even down to the ring and packaging it will all help.

Thanks for the suggestions - I’ll definitely pass all the information on to the claims team, hopefully it’ll turn up at some point!
