You may or may not be aware that Royal Mail yesterday launched an online postage stamp service. The idea is you can open an account online pre fund it with your credit or debit card and print postage labels with bar codes at home for your packets.

PLEASE PLEASE take the time to read this, this new service is not only bad for your local post office it could be worse for you!!!!

Before you go rushing off to use this new Royal Mail service there are a few things you may want to consider, that you may not think about in the rush of excitement.

First Reactions

I would imagine the reaction of most ebayers on hearing of the new “pay your postage online serviceâ€

Sadly, all true. The thinking behind this was to tie Royal Mail services in with Ebay I imagine, but I can't see any real advantages or savings for sellers.

More a marketing exercise.

But you can't provide the level of service people would like to expect if your shops are closed

Is that why they are withdrawing some Stamps?

Post by andy2007 »

Could this be why they are withdrawing certain denominations of Stamp?
We've already had one Customer wanting advice, because this is causing problems. Could they be trying to force people into using the on-line Postage, instead of Stamps?

There is a "Idiots guide to selling on Ebay " , one experienced seller said "don't print your labels out and pay for them through Paypal , hand your packets and parcels over the Counter , support your local post office ; otherwise they'll close it down ( Ok that was an old article )

That was a good blog , if people use kitchen scales to weigh packets , they'll probably end up paying too much as they're not accurate enough . God only knows what the Ebay Digital Postal scales were like , probably sold by a power seller in Hong Kong with high P & P costs .

The blog also made a good point about the bubble bursting and being able to buy things cheaper new with high P&P , Cash Converters got closed because who in the right mind wanted to buy second hand mobiles when they could get brand new ones from Carphone Warehouse /Woolworths etc for the same or not much more with a warranty .

MURDERERS. Need to dispose of a body? Simply parcel it up and post it to yourself via DHL. You will never see it again.

Or as that case I put in News - take it 250 miles when it was being delivered no more than 10 miles from his business.

I absolutely refuse to buy my postage online. I pay anywhere from £30-£125 a day on postage and I want to be one of the people who keeps my local PO staff in jobs.
If anyone's in a queue behind me moaning I turn around and tell them they should be so lucky to still be able to walk to their post office for the top notch service they get.
I not only do ebay, I run a web shop and postage online will never be for me.

There's two advice articles on Ebay written by seasoned Ebayers - one is written by a ex RM IB manager who does not slate posties at all - he does mention a instance when they sure as hell knew a bent driver was on the fiddle for a good while and were after him - but RM were frightened of legal implications as the dodgy doings were being done on a loading bay - if ? I remember rightly ?

The other one was full of common sense tips and she insisted on putting her parcels and packets and of course postage money over the PO counter .

Bet they're celebrating up the road from you TBT ? Man U losing 2-1 :left: :left: :left:
