Sorting at delivery office for outbound mail

Post by gouryella1982 »

Hi,
Can anyone give me any insight after what happens to my mail after it's been collected? For example if I had 2 Tracked48 parcels collected one going to London and one going to Glasgow (just for opposite directions sake as I'm in Lincolnshire) are they put in the same container when the Postie gets back to the delivery office and therefore both go together to the first mail centre or does any type of sorting go on meaning they could go to different mail centres?

I guess the reason for asking is because I had 2 parcels collected Monday using Tracked48 and one got scanned with Received at North West Super Hub. The other one still just says collected. Wondering if it could have gone to another mail centre or maybe missed a scan? I don't know how scans work on arrivals at hubs whether it's bulk or individually or human or machine. I know the label was put on the side of the box rather than the top and whether that would make a difference if it's scanned by a machine or not.

Any insight into any or all of the above would be appreciated.

No Gouryella.

There is no immediate sorting when a parcel is collected.

They travel from your local delivery office (say Skegness for example) to the main Mail Centre (let say Doncaster for example)

Then they will be scanned and sorted for outward travel to (Glasgow and London) on separate lorries.

When the parcels reach the next destination (delivery office) they are scanned again.

I wonder if your collection person lashed the two items together with elastic bands and one got scanned and not the other one ?
Eventually they will both be scanned and delivered.

Thanks for the reply. To avoid confusion both have their individual collection scans but only one had a further scan at North West Super Hub. My thinking (maybe wrong) would be as they were collected together the Postman would be put them into the same container/bag? and probably travelled together if they all go to the same first hub. Hence me thinking maybe a missed scan.
