What is goin on with my parcel?

Post by BobK »

I live in Portland, Oregon, USA and ordered an item from Cambridge. The store says they “dispatched” the item last week Tuesday and then a day later got me a tracking number. I checked the tracking number and RM said that the sender was preparing the package. That message stayed the same till this week Wednesday where it change to “We have it”. And that it is at the Norhhampton peak hub. The date at which they had it was last week Wednesday. But it took a week to post it. BTW I am not sure what class postage but I the sender said that it was registered and insured. USPS says the package is being prepared by the sender and there is not tracking number yet. I guess that is because RM has not sent it?
Does this seem normal? And when do you think I will see an update? Thanks

it's not normal but Royal Mail international mail is recovering from a hack and as they say in their daily update - tracking may not be accurate.

Service Update

Export

Delivery of International items may take slightly longer than usual.

Customers using International Tracked / International Tracked and Signed services may notice different tracking information as items leave the UK.

We are seeing some delays to some Tracking events in a small number of destinations.

As we continue to work with our partners to resolve this, if you cannot see tracking information for your items then it is likely to be available on the overseas’ Posts own tracking websites. Please see hereOpens in a new window for links to the overseas’ Posts websites to access tracking information.

Customers sending items requiring a customs declaration (such as goods or gifts) internationally should purchase postage online, through shipping solutions or over the counter at Post Office branches rather than using Postage Stamps or Meters.

A small number of International Untracked services for Business Contract customers remain unavailable however alternative services are available for use.
Just to clarify we are not an official Royal Mail website so this is not an official response.

I don't think this is anything to worry about, currently I'm finding that packages are taking about 10 days to leave the UK you should get an update soon that it's in customs in the US.
It might be worth trying the track24 site for more info.
