Ok so don’t shoot the messenger, but I’ve been told today on one of my many numerous trips there by the lady who sorts my packages out that International services ( at the post office ) resume from tomorrow. However she has told me it’s an entirely new system and completely different to the old one.
From what I know beforehand , when accepting mail they would input the address and then scan the barcode to place it into the system which then produces a receipt of the destination and tracking number for the customers records.
Now she has told me that while doing that they now have to enter the customers EORI number and put every single detail on the customs label including contents, weight, and commodity codes. Essentially the same as what you have to do on Click & Drop.
She told me it’s going to take forever to have to manually input all the data in from the parcels one by one but it won’t work without doing this now. Both sides ( country from which you are sending from and country the parcel is arriving to ) must have the same information regarding customs details or else your parcel won’t be sent.
I think it may be easier just to have people using Click & Drop for now but if international postage resumes as stated then HOPEFULLY ….Milton Keynes starts emptying and parcels get processed …

Re: Post Office now accepting international mail again
That would be nice if true.
It would also be nice if we had any indication from HWDC and elsewhere when the new systems will be ready so we can start sending in volume again. Does anyone have any information on this?
The temporary solutions simply cannot take a lot of volume. At the moment, I have parcels and full sacks of mail from November onwards still stuck.
