Registered letter signed as delivered but in the post office

Post by JaHa »

Hello everyone,

I have sent a registered letter from Germany to London. Today, it was tracked as "delivered". However, the person who signed is not the addressee, and the signature was provided by a postal worker (I assume) because it was provided in the post office (Mount Pleasant). I assume I will not get further notifications. So, I am left in the dark whether the recipient will get the letter or not. What could this possibly signify?
Is there a chance that the letter will be sent back to me if it does not reach the correct recipient? In that case at least I would know that he has not received it.
Thank you for your answers.

Some businesses and large government departments get a centralised delivery direct from MCs. If you could tell us which organisation you sent it to it would help.

If not a large organisation then please post the tracking number (it does not reveal the address) and we can advise what we think happened. But it will be a guess as we are not an official site.

Also useful to know if the address is a PO Box. A simple yes / no will suffice.

I think you need to contact your own postal service and get them to look into it if the receiver has not received it. All the details would indicate that it has been delivered correctly. The time and the fact that it was the Delivery Office (DO) rather than the mail centre(MC) all point to a delivery happening, even if it was at the wrong address.
