A family relative sent a parcel to me on Wednesday 26th october early afternoon. It was a sentimental family thing that was to be given to my mum as she's deteriorating from terminal cancer. It is priceless and can't be replaced, hence why we chose special delivery!
The parcel arrived in Inverness MC at 6.24pm then was despatched to Edinburgh MC at 7.52PM all on Wednesday 26th October.
It hasn't updated in all this time and stuck like this!! I haven't recieved it and it's been 9/10 days now. I'm absolutely fuming! Royal Mail is saying that after 10 days you've to assume it lost. How could they lose a special delivery parcel when it was scanned onto the van!? Did it disappear suddenly on the van and just not make it to Edinburgh MC? This makes no sense!
Please can someone tell me if this is completely lost now? My mum is so upset bless her. How could this happen? Can someone please explain to me what it essentially means when it's despatched to next MC and how it could get lost and not scanned in, in between? Has anyone else had a special delivery take this long? I do know that it was sent the morning after the 25th strike day but I've since recieved other parcels since then without issue.

Re: Can anyone please please help with a special delivery?
Without a tracking number, just in case it has updated since you posted, and to see where and when it was scanned it's difficult to say. Also in some parts of Scotland, the guarantee does not apply. (Tracking does not give any personal details such as addresses on the Public site which we use)
However, Special deliveries, even if delayed are very important for Royal Mail and it's very rare for them to go completely missing. In this unofficial forum, we have been seeing various posts where Special Deliveries have been delayed but all seem to have surfaced eventually.
By the way, even if it is delivered, as long as its not one of the non guaranteed postcodes, the sender will be able to claim postage back, and more if they got the extra insurance.
