USPS and Parcelforce stuck at LONDON, Heathrow for a month

Post by Jamestubridy »

Hi all,
So I have 2 parcels incoming from the US and left
NEW YORK, UNITED STATES October 3, 2022, 11:30 pm
Then on October 4th I received this from USPS on both my packages

International Transit
Departed
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM
October 4, 2022, 12:16 pm

This is the message on both tracking numbers. It is now Thursday 27th October 2022 and still no message - 23 days after my last USPS update.

On the parcelforce tracker however, It states it left NEE YORK on the 2nd October at 13:19, and nothing since - which is 25 days ago. It has been almost a month and I have contacted PF twice, both times saying they haven’t got it yet and to contact usps, so I contact usps and they say contact parcelforce because it’s in the UK. So I’m not sure what to do - is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this or currently experiencing this? Is it still in the US? Is it in Heathrow? Is parcelforce living up to its parcelfarce reputation?

Any help would be appreciated as I am getting quite concerned about waiting so long for 2 priority international mail packages, when my first class international package shipped on October 22 has gotten to the uk through USPS to Heathrow, and royal mail already has it in their possession.

I think it's in UK Customs.

From other posts here, USPS are unusual in that they scan items before they go to UK Customs

That’s what I originally thought, however I got a parcel also from America delivered today, also via priority mail, yet was delivered within 6 days - that’s from in the post office in US to being at my house. Same length of time for usps to get to heathrow, except this time Royal Mail pick it up straight away. I’m not sure why this one came through Royal Mail instead but I’ve not experienced this before so not sure if this is common or not?

Customs choose random batches of mail for extra checks, if your item is in one of them batches then it'll take longer to clear customs

Is it normal for this to take 3-4 weeks though? I assume theres probably a bit of a back log because of the strikes?

Sadly looking at posts recently on here there has been an increase in delays, but that's only going by posts on this unofficial site, indeed, the official site is not mentioning any delays.

Agreed I think you’re right, I was looking around and a lot of people are saying they’re having the same message for weeks if not months. Unfortunately no one updates it saying they did receive or any updates from the post so hopefully it’ll be alright, I’ll keep posted here to hopefully help others if or when they get this scenario.

Just going to have to stick in there and hopefully get an update soon
