Are there delays at Langley HWDC ?

Post by C2019 »

Posted a parcel to the USA with maximum of £250 insurance on but the contents are worth £400.
Posted on Monday 25th April where it arrived at Langley HWDC on the Tuesday. Tracking reads
Tuesday 26 April 2022
23:07
Item Received by Royal Mail
LANGLEY HWDC

There is no update after to say it’s being sent overseas so I’m guessing it’s still waiting to be scanned to board a flight however everything I’ve posted after that to the USA has just gone straight through as usual and no problems. Seems a lot of people on Twitter are saying this too.

It hasn’t been a huge amount of time but yes, it does seem like it is stuck. A pause at that stage usually indicates either a suspected violation of destination country customs, a violation of the UK’s Dangerous Goods act or possibly a problem with customs documentation. Two questions:

1. What *exactly* did you send?
2. Given the value, did you complete the longer CN23 customs declaration (as opposed to the usual CN22)?

It was original artwork, so they were some sketches and I usually send them separately but because everything has been going through safely I put them all in one package to save money on postage.
I’ve sent things to the USA loads of times and never had any issues, even sent something worth £800 with a cn22 because the lady at the post office told me there was no such thing as a cn23 form ( I’m assuming that’s the custom form you mean for the higher priced items over 250) and this was backed up by the guy running the post office. When I showed him there was they simply said to use a cn22 as “they never look at them anyway” and that they have never seen that form used, ever
I just put the value of the item as £250 and filled it out correctly as I usually do.
Unless it’s not been scanned ?

There definitely is such a thing as a CN23:

Sketches shouldn’t cause an issue with contents.
