Parcel stuck on "arrived at destination post" for a month

Post by aviduser124455 »

So I ordered something from Singapore and they used singpost to send it. It has been over a month since they sent it and it apparently has already arrived in the UK, waiting to be entered into Royal Mail system. How do I initiate an investigation for this parcel?

Arrival at Destination Post (Country: GB)

22/03/2022
Despatched to overseas (Country code: GB)

It's probably stuck in customs, who choose random batches of mail for extra checks

You can use the normal Royal Mail claim process but it is the sender who is supposed to do this. As the intended recipient, you aren't going to be able to answer all of the questions. As this is something you purchased online you should be claiming from the sender, not RM.

without a tracking number to see the whole list of tracking points its difficult to say, but since the early part of this year the rules changed and Customs are being very strict, hopefully, the sender followed the rules or that may be the reason for the delay.

Date
Short Description
24/03/2022
Arrival at Destination Post (Country: GB)

22/03/2022
Despatched to overseas (Country code: GB)

22/03/2022
Item received at SingPost Mail Processing Centre

That is all the tracking on Singpost says. It doesn't say anything on Royal Mail apart from the fact that "This item is now leaving the originating country. More information will be available when it arrives in the UK." I highly doubt that my parcel would be delayed in customs for a whole month? What would possibly take so long to inspect a keyboard artisan?

I don't work in Customs but they don't usually select individual items they select batches and it takes time for them to investigate them. Also they will be looking for a lot of things, value, legal, and copyright amongst others. Unfortunately, as Customs are the legal authority there is nothing even Royal Mail can do to speed it up.

In your opinion, do you think my parcel is lost? Or still waiting to be investigated? Is there a big backlog of batches or something?
