"Sender preparing item" when it's already at the Post Office

Post by TheRoyalGooner »

I posted an important parcel at the Post Office today (I didn't have time to go direct to the delivery office as I usually do) and it registered that it had been dropped off at the Post Office. However a few hours later, it came up with "Sender preparing item". How can this be right? I already gave them the parcel (though the person who took it seemed to put it under the counter rather than in the sack as I would have expected). Is this a glitch and my parcel is on its way to the MC/Langley or something else?

That is what it says when the Post Office hands it over to Royal Mail. Don’t know why, it’s completely illogical, but it does.

If you sent it Special Delivery then it is logical that the clerk put it under the counter. In many offices there is a drawer for Special Delivery etc under the clerk’s till drawers.

Thank you. I noticed it missed getting sent out the next day because it arrived at the mail centre later than when I usually drop things off at the DO (I'll know from now on to spend a little more on petrol taking it to the DO rather than PO)

Now it's stuck in Chicago (which I hear has a bit of a reputation when it comes to sorting parcels).
