Delivery to my local post office from international sender?

Post by mrjayjay »

I have friends in the US who send me hot off the shelf clothing for me to sell here in the UK. I often travel for work and am not often in to receive deliveries. This has lead to many complications as parcels have gone missing and things have been misplaced and so on. I have recently been made aware of parcel collection where i can get post sent to my local post office and collect it at my own leisure. Is this possible to do when not from an online retailer providing the "local collect" option and rather from an individual? thanks for any help that someone provides. I cant find an answer anywhere.

Royal Mail does provide an inflight service where you can divert items to a Post Office before delivery is attempted but this is only for Special Delivery and Royal Mail tracked services.

However, there is another option once delivery has been attempted and you can find all the details https://www.royalmail.com/receiving-mail/redelivery

I think you might be thinking of Poste Restante. However, if you look at the small print it is not actually suitable for your situation:

The correct solution would be to use a PO box:

Despite the name, PO Boxes are not available from the Post Office, you need to go to a Royal Mail office to collect.
