Hello everyone I’m in desperate need of some help. I sent off an international tracked item nearly 2 weeks ago now and it’s still stuck on “in transit” leaving the country this whole time. I have sent things to Portugal early last year during lockdown and Christmas time just gone and none of them have taken this long. I am concerned to whether this item has got lost or something has happened to it. It was supposed to be for Valentine’s Day. I have contacted Royal Mail and they have informed me it arrived in Lisbon on the Friday just gone but I’ve had no updates from any tracking information, what should I do? Thankyou!

So your item is probably caught up in that backlog. I am afraid if it's in Portugal it's a case of waiting till it arrives.

We are currently experiencing delays to items being delivered in Portugal. Items are leaving the UK on time but are being delayed when being processed through Portuguese customs. Please make sure you provide complete and accurate electronic customs data and customs documents (CN22/23) to avoid disruption. Provision of the recipient’s mobile phone number (including country code and/or recipient email address) in electronic data is also recommended to assist in timely delivery of items.
If you are an international business contract customer and you have signed up for the EU's Import One Stop Shop (IOSS) or if you are sending items via an IOSS registered marketplace, you need to enter your IOSS registration number to each item in the pre-advice to reduce delays. Portugal Post has informed that due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, the state of calamity announced by the Government of Portugal continues to apply throughout the country. Portugal is experiencing a fifth wave of the pandemic with high rate of infections, resulted in high rate of absence and, consequently, disruption to the provision of services. Portugal Post continues to provide postal services in line with public health guidelines and restrictions but unable to guarantee compliance with the agreed standards, with an impact on quality of service for all mail types.
