“Shipment held for Custom Inspection”

Post by TJB.00 »

Hi all.
This is my first time on one of these forums as I didn’t know who else to ask.
I am an avid plushy collector last week a lady I bought items from on Facebook shipped the items via PirateShip (in the USA) here to the UK.
Asendia USA is the company that carry the parcel on their journey to the UK, usually once it arrives in the UK I’ll receive a ‘customs cleared’ message and then later on that day I’ll get another message ‘departed customs’ then it will be on its way to Royal Mail.

This time, unusually I’ve had a message which reads, “shipment held for customs inspection” out of all 7 months I’ve been collecting I have never seen this message before. It’s arrived in the UK, but is now stuck in customs. I’m unsure why, the items are worth around 40USD and they’re just plush toys.
Obviously Royal Mail cannot do anything as it isn’t even in their care yet but I was wondering if anybody on here has any advice?
The person I bought from did seem inexperienced and I am worried not all the correct customs forms were with the items.

If anybody is familiar with PirateShip, it is really cheap export rates. They’ll take it to the USPS facility, put new labels on it and then send it over to the UK through Asendia USA.

I’ve just not had this issue before and the person who I bought it from is ignoring my messages. I did ask if they had received any emails from either company asking to fill in paperwork or missing forms etc but she has not replied.
If anybody could shed some light or possibly let me know what’s going on I would really appreciate that. I get so anxious about these things.
