Stuck at Langley - is a parcel lost ....again

Post by cpl racing »

During the pandemic I sent 2 high value items tracked and insured to South Africa and Romania, they got lost and Royal Mail paid compensation - this took 3 months

I now have another parcel sent to Australia beginning of September using tracking number RZ321586111GB, again saying stuck at Langley. I checked the Australian Postal Service tracking and it says "not trackable". Customer is asking why he doesn't have his goods. As you know I can't put a claim in until 2 months have passed, then it takes a month to process. I can't expect a customer to wait 3 months for a replacement, but if I resend the goods and then he receives them twice I've lost my money. As a business this doesn't work. Can you please tell me where my parcel is?

It's been sent as "International Signed". That service is only tracked within the UK. Once it reaches the destination country (in this case Australia), the next scan will be when delivery is attempted. To have been tracked within Australia it would have needed to have been sent as either "International Tracked " or "International Tracked & Signed".

It's probably stuck in Australian customs, who are very strict, I believe they examine every item (or at least x-ray them). What's the contents, just in case it's something not allowed into or restricted in Australia

Thanks for the response

It is just a small metal blanking plate and a bolt for a Ford engine. Here is a picture

Detailed conditions apply to the importation of organic compounds of lead, including items for use in internal combustion engines, see Australian Customs authorities

Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal

Written permission is required from the relevant authorities for the importation of metal drink dispensers or containers that cause contamination of the dispensed or contained beverage in excess of specified levels, see Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS)
I am no expert but its possible Customs in the UK are either checking it for this restriction, or its got to Australia and they are checking the document requirements if you either need them and if you met them.

But its a guess
