Royal Mail System Suffering Major Problems

Post by Chr1839 »

Hello, I was reading as much as I could about my situation. I hope you can give me an answer as to why my package says in transit going to my country but it has said that to me since Aug 20 2021. No updates on any shipping apps. Royal Mail says enroute to Canada and other places say the same thing. Usually it’s 3 days in transit and it comes to my country. This time it’s been 2 weeks with no update telling me where my package is. I don’t know who can tell me where it is. They need too track it cause it’s still not in Canada. It says it’s on its way but 2 weeks is a very long time. Can you help me? I can give you tracking information LB117955971GB. Thanks

Topic split from news item.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

It could well be waiting for a flight over to Canada, with less passenger flights to Canada, there's less capacity for cargo going to Canada.

Also Canadian customs are probably amongst the strictest in the world, so I believe they check every item, and not just random batches.

btw was the return address somewhere on the front of the item?

No it didn’t have a return address. Just mine. But if it says it in transit to Canada, that’s exactly where it should be. I don’t understand why nobody can track it at Royal Mail? They have the tracking so if it’s in transit, they should know exactly where it is. Sent 10 times never an issue until now.

You've got a problem then. Canadian customs refuse entry to any item that doesn't have a return address on it. I believe that they also require it to be located on the front of the item. I believe that they take a photo of every item entering Canada

I been ordering for 15 years and none of that or this has ever happened. I just wanted to know if it enroute to Canada then why isn’t it here? I thought they could just flag it down using the tracking. I also heard if it’s in transit for awhile, then it will show up whenever it shows. They have my address. All it’s like is you pretend it doesn’t have a tracking number. I would not know where it was. But because I do have tracking, it says it’s on it’s way. So I wait.

Tracking points appear whenever the item passes the points in the system where there is tracking equipment. So if the item isn't moving, there will be no tracking information.

Royal Mail only track it while it is in there hands. Once RM give it to Canadian customs, RM have no way to track it, because it isn't in their possession any more. Once Canada Post get the item from customs, CP will track it and pass some or all of that data to RM. But customs don't track items. So if an item is not moving because customs have decided to hold on to it, then tracking will stop. Your item stopped at the point where RM hand it over to customs, so that indicates that customs are holding it. And you told us that there is no return address on it, which we know causes issues in Canada, so it is no surprise that it is having customs problems.

What can I do if the parcel I am expecting is in Canada customs?
The status of a parcel sent to you from another country indicates that it is to be reviewed by customs. You need to wait for the package to clear customs. Here’s how the process works:

Canada Post presents all incoming international parcels to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) for customs review. Once a parcel is with CBSA, Canada Post cannot intervene or inquire about the status of the parcel. Times for packages to clear customs vary. Delays can occur due to the package itself, its documentation or volumes at customs.
The CBSA visually inspects each parcel or piece of mail.
Package contents that are not on the prohibited items list and not subject to duties or taxes are released for delivery. Packages that require further inspection or duty and tax assessment are held for further action.
Once your package has cleared customs, it is handed over to Canada Post for delivery. Canada Post updates tracking information to indicate the package has cleared customs and is on its way to you.
