Address change when number assigned

Post by oafcmetty »

Hi,

Wondering if it's possible to request an address name change - looking at my council's website they seem to push back when addresses already have an associated number.

Address is of this format:

2 Dummy Road Cottages
Dummy Road
Village

And there's another nearby address:

2 Dummy Road
Village

Both have the same postcode, so it's causing some confusion when used over the phone etc. I understand that I can start informally using a name e.g. Acorn Cottage, but would still have to use the other address lines as is, and I'm assuming any PAF lookup wouldn't include it, so wouldn't help re the confusion.

Is it possible to request the removal of the numbering, so it's just:

Acorn Cottage
Dummy Road
Village?

Looking at the other properties at the postcode here http://cti.voa.gov.uk/cti/InitS.asp, ours is the only one that is 'nn Dummy Road Cottages' - the two adjoining ones are both named, but don't have numbers, so presumably must have been through this process in the past?

Any thoughts?

Not through Royal Mail as we get told addresses by the local council, and we have no input.

However, you can pop into the Delivery Office or call Customer services and advise them of the issue.

The manager who oversees the area covering that address should then take steps to reduce the error by whatever means they think are appropriate.
