Hello, I am in the Republic of Ireland and am waiting on mail from Gibraltar. The mail was confirmed to be send from Gibraltar on the 7th and the tracking number states "Sorry, we're currently unable to confirm the status of your item with reference RT080530353GI . Please try again tomorrow."
Should I be worried about this yet or is this type of delay expected at the moment? If so for what reason? Thanks!

Royal Mail doesn't cover the Republic of Ireland, only Northern Ireland

Royal Mail do not deal with the mail in Gibraltar or ROI, so technically it has nothing to do with us.

I was told by the sender that Royal Mail would be the carrier so that's interesting.
I can see that only today RT080530353GI is working on the royal mail tracking system, see attachment.
The info is different to what is shown by https://www.track-trace.com/post: (thanks for sharing this link, very helpful!)

Technically, the Royal Gibraltar Post Office is a department within the Gibraltar Government.
I think you can track on the Royal Mail system because of a historical agreement, and the fact that most of the post from and to Gibraltar is from and to the UK. Indeed it may be that apart from Spain all overseas post may transit through the Royal Mail depot at Heathrow - but that is pure guesswork.
