Hi,
I went to my local post office (NN Area) on the 4th October at about 1:30pm to send a package to a FREEPOST (TN Area) address via Royal Mail Special Delivery 1pm. It should have been delivered yesterday, but Royal Mail's track and trace says 'Please come back later'. "Where has my item been?"s last track shows it as being "On Delivery" at 3:50am in Medway mail centre. I have had no confirmation or proof of delivery from who I sent it to to say it has come yet, so I am worried it hasn't been delivered as the parcel is worth quite a lot (around £300)! How would I be able to ensure Royal Mail have not lost my parcel in transit?? Would it be worth it to go to the Post Office to complain or go via Royal Mail?

Nope for 2 reasons its probably been delivered but the system has not updated yet.
If you sent it to a Freepost address, and a Mail Centre is scanning "ready for delivery" then that means they get a lot of Special Deliveries and sign for items daily, and are probably what we call a bulk receiver. and they will either collect it direct from the Mail centre, or it will be delivered from the Mail Centre.
Because of that, it can take a long time for the system to update itself, I don't know the exact reasons why, but this happens a lot to addresses that receive a lot of Special Deliveries.
Check with the address you sent it to confirm if you can, otherwise don't worry too much but check the status every so often till you are satisfied they have got it.

Thanks for the reply TrueBlueTerrier, usually SBE/Sony would e-mail me and say that they have received my phone. I have checked my e-mails and do not have confirmation of delivery from either. I have also checked SBE's extranet to find my phone but to no avail. Sony have said they do not have it.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Nope for 2 reasons its probably been delivered but the system has not updated yet.

then yes get onto Royal mail as they are the ones that should have delivered it. The local Post Office won't be able to help, so go straight to RM.
