lost parcel
Sorry, to ask, but I think a parcel has been lost which did a tracking number in France, where it is described as 'landed in the UK on the 3rd of Oct.', but has fallen from the radar in the UK. I've asked my postman, he doesn't know what to do, the RM customer service said, nothing we can do... and France either (It did confirm it being posted in Marseille in time). I am desperate waiting for it. The number is RK876215635FR; it simply 'disappeared. Does anybody know how I might find it?? Thank you in advance, Gerard.

Re: lost parcel
It's possibly stuck in customs, delays of upto 4 weeks are not uncommon unfortunately, if there is any import duties to pay the first you may hear of it is if you receive a grey a5 surcharge card asking you to go to your local delivery office to pay the charge

Re: lost parcel
I am experiencing the very same problem. A4 documents was sent from Germany - imported on:
08.10.2014 00:00 Import (Item arrived at country of destination) United Kingdom (not found on RM systems)
I am trying to understand why Import time and Import locations are nothing but dummy values. It should state Langley or Heatrow etc with a realistic time not 00:00 in every step, this cannot be real.
We are on the same boat mate
Any advice would be appreciated, Regards
Erin

Re: lost parcel
Why would a parcel from an EU country be stuck in customs ? There are no import duties / VAT to pay surely.....?zx135 wrote:It's possibly stuck in customs, delays of upto 4 weeks are not uncommon unfortunately, if there is any import duties to pay the first you may hear of it is if you receive a grey a5 surcharge card asking you to go to your local delivery office to pay the charge

Gerard you should talk to Parcelforce as your tracking number somehow works on their site, mine doesn't .. you maybe able to find answers mate:
It says: Your item with reference RK876215635FR has been received and is being forwarded to our international mail center.

Because they don't just check that VAT and Customs Duties have been paid, but they also check legal status of items as well. Don't forget VAT is still payable on some items even if they are within the EU.

Re: lost parcel
Hi Lateralus, thanks for your reply; the citation 'being received and now forwarded to our international mail center' is new to me as the last time (before going to the forum) it stated that the tracking number 'wasn't recognised by the system' ? Hence the confusement.... it could mean there is still hope...... thanks.Lateralus wrote:gerard57 wrote:Sorry, to ask, but I think a parcel has been lost which did a tracking number in France, where it is described as 'landed in the UK on the 3rd of Oct.', but has fallen from the radar in the UK. Re: lost parcel
Thanks for your reply: I haven't received any cards yet. But the contents (I know) there is nothing illegal or needs 'VAT/Tax'.... I don't mind they are checking it, in the end it is in everybody's interest... thanks.zx135 wrote:It's possibly stuck in customs, delays of upto 4 weeks are not uncommon unfortunately, if there is any import duties to pay the first you may hear of it is if you receive a grey a5 surcharge card asking you to go to your local delivery office to pay the charge

Re: lost parcel
Hi Erin, In one of the replies, Parcelforce Tracking, was mentioned. It appears that the reply in the system has changed from ' number not recognised in the system, to 'received and handed over to international transport....' I don't know what it means... no places or timings... or what has happened, like a custom check... I'll give it another week. I did speak to RM Customer services before and they also could recognise the number and didn't know what to do... Maybe now they see the number & know what to do. In the mean time I have contacted the sender in France, He/She was going to ask La Poste... it appears they are also 'puzzled' what is happening... Will let you know what happens further. Good luck with your case!! Regards, Gerard.Lateralus wrote:I am experiencing the very same problem. A4 documents was sent from Germany - imported on:

Re: lost parcel
From the entries on the ParcelForce Website:
Your item with reference RK876215635FR has been received and is being forwarded to our international mail center.
And the Royal Mail website (http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;):
03/10/14 16:52 RECEIVED IN UK HEATHROW WORLDWIDE DC
It looks like it is supposed to be handled by Royal Mail and not ParcelForce within the UK, so ParcelForce have handed it over to Royal Mail. Chances are the item is now stuck in customs

It is still not clear where it is, but it is somewhere between Heathrow Scanning on the 3rd of October and my address NE48 2SG where is has to be 'finally scanned'! The Parcel Force reading, 'it is being received and handed over to the International Depot' is saying nothing according to Parcel Force as they say the tracking number is not theirs!? It is in the hands of the Royal Mail.
So I went back to the RM: I've spoken to the manager of the International Customer Service Desk (ICSD). It appears that with the information on Heatrow (3rd Oct scanning) is 'scrap info' as nothing is done with it! Also nothing is recorded between Heathrow & the final destination! This despite the parcel has a tracking number. If it goes to Customs, it is not tracked or registered either.... if they don't like it (for any reason) they can send it back to the Sender (the recipient is not informed). You can only wait and hope.... nothing The RM can do.... but to contact the Sender. If it disappears (!) nobody reacts until either the sender or recipient is reacting 'it is missing', many weeks later. Like now if you (as recipient, whilst typing this the Sender has taken actions!) react, also the manager of the ICSD starts to discover something is 'unclear' but can't help as the sender from abroad has to start an international investigation at 'their' postal services. He could see in the system they have done that as we speak! But in the mean time, it is obvious the parcel is missing in the UK nevertheless. According to the manager of the ICSD, this investigation can take up to 90 days! After asking him what this investigation means: '...the international investigation is nothing more than asking the depots (& sorting offices) > have you seen a parcel nr RK876215635FR < but nothing is registered' ... so it is up to the person you ask, what he/she does.... Imagine you are at a depot, where NO tracking numbers are registered! >>> are you going to ALL your parcels and look for this missing number...... all the rooms, vans, asking all your collegues, have you seen number RK876215635FR....... but nowhere there is a list waht come in or out!!!! Worse scenario, if it is missing (i.e. it is stolen), nobody of the RM reacts, as it is not registered AND nobody can be held account despite that the parcel has a tracking number as nothing is tracked (or traceable). The final action, still not knowing what is happening/has happened, the sender can fill in a claim for a missing item and life can proceed as usual. The BEST other thing the sender and/or the recipient have to do is go to the police and report a missing and/or stolen item at the Royal Mail; that's where it is and wait what happens then...
I am phoning the manager next week again and ask for the progress and will report furhter on parcel RK876215635FR !!!

Re: Reward finding parcel RK876215635FR
Kind request to all RM employees: could you please look for the following parcel as it is reported as missing somewhere in the UK between Heathrow and NE482SG. If you find it I will personally handing over you a financial reward!! It was scanned on the 3rd of October but went missing afterwards; it must be somewhere in the Sorting offices between the above mentioned locations! The system can't find it as no tracking is recorded in between and therefor I do an appeal on you all!!
Kind Regards,
Gerard.
Kind Regards,
Gerard.

I've contacted both Parcel Force; they say, whilst it was recognised ('being received...handed over...) the number doesn't correspond to their system??? Contacted Royal Mail; via via Consumer Services some manager; at Royal Mail, last sign was Heathrow after that it is a full blank...sender has started an intern. enquiry which can last till 9th of December, but in further asking what it entails.... tracking....no, not really nothing is tracked towards the recipients address.... why it is called 'tracked'.... mmmm, good one, don't know.... As being the recipient it is not really sounding as being a 'solid' service RM tracking... I've asked the help of more colleagues see my Youtube request. You only have to go to Youtube and type in the parcel number... I hope there are a few colleagues who might help me.... cross fingers... kind regards. G.
