Parcel stuck at heathrow

Post by Glenn59 »

am having the same, had a package undelivered and should be returned to me. German GLS states it was passed back to UK on 2/2/17.
Last week RM online chat staff said it should be with me in a few days, spoke to another online today who said it had never been returned to the UK.
Someone is not telling the truth. Gave them the tracking number etc.

Surely if there is a tracking number and you've given them all the details it should not be lost?

Spoke to another last week on the phone, he mentioned customs, trouble is you cannot get any confirmation or contact customs. Am now getting concerned this package is lost. You pay extra for what should be a safe system and this happens, yet no one can give you any answers at all

Actually, it is possible for both advisors to be telling the truth. Most mail probably would have got to you in a couple of days, but if yours was one of the minority that is selected for extra checks by customs then no, it would not have entered the UK yet. The chances of an item getting lost at that part of the process are close to zero, it's just that customs don't have tracking equipment.

Royal Mail are entirely in the hands of customs, who are a law enforcement agency. RM and their partners do speed up the process for the part they have control over.

Parcel stuck at heathrow

Already posted this elsewhere but thought I would add it here as my parcel has now been at Heathrow since 2/2/17

Hi,
Thought I would give this forum a try as I keep getting different suggestions and answers from customer services.
Had two parcels sent from Italy, the second arrived in a week the other posted on 27th January and was exported on the 31st, status is:

2017-01-31 10:48,
Departure from outward office of exchange, MILANO C.S.I

This is the last scan on Poste Italiane site. Royal Mail customer services say it has arrived in the UK on 02/02/2017 but hasn't been handed over to RM yet and another said it was sorting and the seller from Italy said he had spoken to the Italian postal service and they said it arrived on 02/02/2017 and is awaiting sorting??!! I have been advised to wait until Friday 24th (4 weeks) then contact the seller.
All I would like to know is will I see it as I hope it's not lost as it's a very expensive prop kit.

Tracking number is RA904167535IT

Hope you can help ☹️

Skyfallofpies, as I indicated in the other thread, you need to be dealing with this by initiating a charge back with your credit card provider.

Parcel stuck at heathrow

Hello there,

I've sent a parcel from Latvia to UK on Dec 17th, and since Dec 23rd it is being held at Heathrow DC with no status updates whatsoever. What could be the reason for holding the parcel at the DC for so long? I've went to my local Post Office and submitted a formal request to clarify the situation, but they told me that reply from UK could take up to 3 months.
Here's a tracking number if it helps: RS089088139LV.

Need some clarification/help. My parcel was posted with two other parcels on February 15th, the other two have arrived with no dramas. However the third parcel has been marked at "Your item departed a transfer airport in HEATHROW, LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM on February 26, 2017 at 11:22 am. The item is currently in transit to the destination."

It is now March 9th, and still no parcel. I have rung Parcel Force as I know they deliver them this end as it is a large box, however they are saying when it hits the UK, they will give it their own tracking code but according to them, it hasn't got to them. Tried ringing customs, but pretty much can't get hold of them direct for this matter as they tell you to ring Parcel Force and they are saying they don't have it.

So does anyone know what to do? or if this has happened to anyone and their parcel has still arrived?

Thanks

It doesn't happen to everyone, or every parcel, but it is a regular thing. Customs can't track it and don't have an official customer facing number to call in this situation but it has more than likely fallen foul of customs deciding to carry out further checks on a particular batch of mail.

Sadly there is nothing much you can do except wait for the tracking to update, and then hopefully, as long as there are no import or tax issues it should turn up fairly rapidly once it does.

Really appreciate the feedback. If it has been there since the 26th February, how long should I be waiting for max before deciding to try to take some further action?

You need to check the terms for the service you used. For Royal Mail it's a standard 5 weeks, for Parcelforce it varies by service, you need to check with the sending end. The date you are looking for is the point at which you can claim for loss or damage.

But if you bought the items on line then it's all about the contract of sale.

Hello, my parcel hasn't moved for nearly a week which is unusual, they usually clear within a day or so. Royal mail say it's at customs, customs can't find it on their system. Tracking number is LF111527728US. Any advice or hints would be greatly appreciated, I've never had this problem before.

Parcel stuck at heathrow

Post by JDCC »

Hi all,

I have had a package stuck in Heathrow since 12th March. Having read comments on here, I was reassured it would turn up within a couple of weeks. But unfortunately, it has not. It was an eBay purchase, and estimated between the 14th-24th March, so I have a while longer left to claim (think it's a month).

It seems like it has been stuck for longer than other packages on this thread. I have rang my local RM depot just incase they have it, but they don't. They said I should ask the seller to contact USPS, but he doesn't think USPS can do anything about it. The seller is reputable and I have bought from them many times. It was sent First-Class Package International Service, Small Packets.

Anyone have any advice? Or is it just probably stuck there still? I don't recall any of my orders from abroad getting lost before!

Cheers :)

EDIT: Tracking no. is LZ346190794US

You should be putting a claim in by PayPal. Your contract is with the seller, it is their responsibility to get it to you in the time stated. Failure of their chosen subcontractor(s) is between them and the seller.

Parcel stuck at heathrow

Hi,

I was sen't a letter from Greece and it's stuck at Heathrow (RE625391944GR):
20/04/17 20:57 ARRIVED IN THE UK HEATHROW WORLDWIDE DC

It was sent as express and it took only one day to arrive at Heathrow but now it looks like it won't be delivered on time (latest tomorrow or chances are that it would be OK even on Monday morning if delivered early).

I called Royal Mail and asked for help (suggested picking it from somewhere in order to fasten the process) but I was only told that I can do nothing more than just wait.

This document is required urgently and it seems it was express only for the half of the journey.

It's 2017 and it's just a folder with a one-sheet A4 paper inside, sent from some european country, I can't understand why it takes so long to be sent from Heathrow to the recipient (London).

Any ideas, suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks.

Customs choose random batches of mail for closer inspection, if your item is in one of those batches then it'll take longer to clear customs. Until customs release it to Royal Mail, there is nothing that Royal Mail can do
