If the tracking number ends GB, then it is being posted in the United Kingdom.

My tracking number is not recognised?

Post by ihda »

Hi

Why is the newly introduced reference code in the following link not a tracking number? It has exactly the right format.
The text says it has something to do with coordination at the border.

http://support.shiptheory.com/support/s ... references" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

(I am looking for a cheap trackable (or signed on delivery option) from UK to Europe and thought all Airmail have now those tracking numbers).

Best,
ihda

The link you provided says
Royal Mail have started including barcodes on standard Air Mail services. These barcodes can be seen on your Shiptheory shipping labels that uses Air Mail services, and is used as references on the border during shipping. These aren't tracking numbers.
So they aren't trackable because this service isn't a tracked service.

I thought when I would be in the UK, I could just monitor the process or delivery by that reference number because I would have that number after printing out the label as the sender.
However, I was uncertain if there is a difference between business and average customer solutions.

Any idea why it has exactly the format of a reference number?
Does that mean a postal employee simply ignores these parcels during the normal handling with their respective barcode devices?

Back to my original post and sad to say the reference code is still not recognised. The Royal Mail receipt does say "End to end tracking"
I'm now rather worried. The ref. is L0026062651GB, and yes, the sender's
address is on the outside, along with the signed customs declaration.

Are you putting the correct reference number in the second character looks wrong , it should be a letter .

Thanks, yes that's my parcel, what a relief. The Second digit on my receipt is definitely printed as 0, not capital O. It's identical to the third digit.

I love the way people are asking RMC what's happened to their parcels .... and getting a better response than they obviously got from RM customer services. :thumbup

Perhaps this could be a New Revenue Stream for RMC? :hmmmm RM should be paying us for solving their customer's problems? :cuppa

RM Customer Services? So far as I could see, you have to either raise a complaint or go round in very annoying circles looking at FAQs.
