No worries I Made one small amendment to your post, after that it was fine. Also, it wasn't a warning specifically aimed at you, but at everyone, because I could see the OP had unintentionally got peoples backs up. (Mine as well :shhhhh )

But thanks for joining in the thread all points of view are welcome.

Just to give everyone some hope. My package heading from the UK to EU finally made it to its destination country today, after being stuck "processing" at Langley HWDC for almost 2 weeks. There was no "leaving the UK" scan, they probably missed it. It just suddenly turned up today at the destination. This is despite the fact that packages sent to the same address at a later date already made it through a long time ago. So it's really unpredictable at the moment.

Thats great news.delighted for you,and for that person who is waiting on 12items.i defo understand,it is frustrating.im still waiting on mine since last update 27th of march(leaving langley) to ireland.im guessing its prob buried somewhere in a load of mail.i am still hopeful do.
It be nice if there was anyone on the forum who works at langley if they have the time,to just paint a picture of whats it like working there at the moment,if there is piles of backlog mail in storage somewhere that is geting worked on slowly but surley.
I know its not up to the staff to do this, its head offices job(i guess).
But can only speak for myself in saying if someone did that, they would be saving alot of customers from worring about their mail.
Anyway, hopefuly pple that have been waiting a fair bit like myself 40days in transit(getting moneys worth of the cost of the tracking)lol, will recieve their mail.

I havent complained at all.theres not much point, the workers are doing the best they can.

Agreed, more specific and frequent updates about the current situation across the RM network would be very much appreciated. The "International Incident Bulletin" on the RM website is really vague and not very helpful. I would like to see daily updates such as "we are currently experiencing a backlog at langley hwdc, which we are working on processing. As a result, your package could take up to X number of days to be processed".

They could even add this functionality to the tracking system, where it would show you how many days your package is likely to be stuck on each step along the way, based on the current average processing times.

I spent the last 2 weeks stressing out about my package because I thought it got lost. If RM communicated the situation better with its customers, I'm sure they would be understanding given the current events. But we need to be kept in the loop on what's going on and what to expect.

Hi all,

I have a parcel stuck at Langley destined for Germany. This item was posted on the 06 April. I am trying to keep faith that this item isn’t lost and will make it to it’s recipient one day.

I have contacted support and no one can tell me if it’s actually still in the UK or otherwise. I have raised a claim today for what it’s worth.

Since it was over 6 weeks since posted I made a claim and cheque was received for compensation within a couple of days.
I escalated to Royal Mail owing to the value of item and was informed it’s probably lost! They were going to contact GLS regardless to see if they had any info.

Having just checked tracking out of morbid curiosity, it now says ‘your item has left the UK and is on its way’ So 7 weeks later I can only hope that it is actually on its way to the buyer who has since been fully refunded.

Was there any lithium batteries in there? Lithium batteries can cause problems as Germany don't allow any lithium batteries in, whether in equipment or not

Fair question but no. Just a mechanical wrist watch. I am now waiting for tracking to update and hoping that it finally gets to GLS for delivery. When it was missing so to speak I had asked that it be returned to me but it would appear to be progressing its onward journey.

Anyone know how long items are taking to clear German customs and appear with the delivery partner, GLS in this instance? Hopefully not another 7 weeks :-)

Mechanical wrist watch: that explains it. We have seen this repeatedly. It appears that all watches, regardless of mechanism, are held for extra inspection to weed out the ones with batteries. In normal times this can add a week or two to the journey time, clearly more at the moment.
