where is international mail after it lands in UK and before Langley?

My friend who resides in Holland and the one who posted the parcel for me has looked into logging a claim form. My problem now is it asks for proof of the value of the parcel contents in the form of a receipt. Its a handmade custom box made over 50 years ago and its likely something similar can be found to buy fairly cheap. However to me it has great sentimental value as it belonged to my father who has passed away.

So as it stands if the claim is succesful, I am likely to be compensated the costs of the postage fees and possibly an extra £5 on top if Im lucky. The box is irreplaceable and to anyone else is nothing but a small box to hold some coins in.

Is there is nothing I can do about this?

Btw re the CITES, I have watched enough Australian Bordercontrol TV shows to understand what CITES is all about however I am sure UK and EU do not ever take it as extreme as Australia so even though its a very valid potential theory, I doubt it is the case.

I mentioned CITES not as the most likely cause of delay but as a reason why customs might be taking their time examining it. This was in response to your comment about customs not being interested in these sort of contents. I can assure you that the UK Border Agency take CITES seriously and regularly impound things, both living and dead / processed, so I would assume that customs take it just as seriously.

Hi, I know it’s been a while since you’ve posted this. But I’ve got the same problem. The tracking is showing that it’s being prepared to leave designated country. It’s been like for over a week.Did you get your parcel in the end?
Could you please let me know, as I don’t know what other steps to take. As type item was for a gift.

Hi, I also have the same problem. parcel was sent from Poland to UK and still has the "leaving overseas" details on tracking ;/

Inside there are 2 DVDs with my bf's shoulder scans(MRI) from his doctor. (for safety I put them in an old case of Ghost in the Shell anime). So it's a small parcel/letter.

But I'm worried sick that they might get lost.

@edit 2 now it says Livingston and nowhere to be found!! ;/// just great....

My husband has sent me a letter on the 24 of April.I used the track and treace code and I see that the letter is stuck at Langley HWDC from almost 2 weeks.It's very important that this letter arrives in Romania as soon as possible.

Post Romana need to comply with these measures and may have reduced staff numbers so not able to deliver all mail to specifications. Signature on delivery is suspended and delays to mail services can be expected.

hi i’m having a similar problem with an order from new york.
The parcel is a blanket and childrens toy.
according to USPS tracking, the parcel appears to have left the USA, landed in the UK, but then sent straight back to the USA. Does anyone know why this might have happened? i’m aware of customs charges but usually that shows up on the tracking.
according to RM tracking it has been leaving the USA for 2 days.

It couldn’t have gone from the USA to the UK and back to the USA in under 5 hours (see the 3 most recent tracking points). So at least one of those has the wrong time / date on it. Which might also mean that they are not displaying in the correct order.

The routing of it looks strange before it first left the US. It makes me think that the address label might have gotten damaged or the customs declaration has gotten damaged.
