The council tax is inclusive in the rent here, so I dunno.
Thought that might be the case!

The council (or some departments thereof, at least) *do* know that this place is flats, in case anyone is wondering. They have the inspectors coming round, some people get housing benefit letters addressed to flat numbers, people are registered to vote at flat numbers here...
Same as Royal Mail different departments dont talk to each other
Put in your postcode and all the addresses your local council collects council tax from will appear with their correct full address that the AMU will need, if yours doesnt appear then your landlord hasnt told the council that he has converted his property
However, next door (also owned by the same landlord) shows as flats (but funnily enough, next door is only one address according to RM too!). And those people do pay a lower rent because they're responsible for the council tax. I'm not really sure why he's done it that way. These have been flats for probably 20+ years. Can't imagine that there's anything dodgy being attempted - he doesn't seem to have made any effort to hide that this is how he has it set up. I believe that I have it in writing from him somewhere...

Failing that, it's speaking to the licensing and registration department at your local council, explaining to them that you need them to update the system to show the 4 flats as separate delivery points (providing they do all have their own letterbox) and then in about a month to six weeks time it gets forwarded on to RM.
I would be interested to know why you said that bit in bold. I have had some trouble since I moved into my flat because it is not in PAF and I have had companies refuse to deal with me because of that (O2 would not install a phone line, for instance, though I solved that issue by going with the Post Office, who use credit references instead of PAF to validate billing addresses!) I talked to address management but they said that they couldn't do anything. I share a front door and letter box with two other flats in the building, though they are completely separate flats with their own front doors etc inside. I hear similar complaints from customers on a pretty regular basis. Has anybody any idea why it is such a problem to get converted flats on to PAF? I am listed separately on the council tax database.

Because that's how the PAF system/Address Management works. You have to confirm how many delivery points there are that address. If there's only 1 letterbox, it's only 1 DP. If there are multiple letterboxes, it should be listed as separate DPs.

as i posted earlier in the thread, go to this address
type in your postcode and it will show you all the registered addresses that the council collects council tax from in that post code, if your specific flat address isnt there then you need to get in contact with the council name and numbering department for your area, they will register the address and it can then be put onto paf(most councils now actually do this direct so you wont have to)
