"Postman I'd like to pick up my packet and make a complaint"
What is the problem?
"My postman left this card because :roll:tut he couldn't open the gate"
Well madam sometimes if the gate is very stiff it can be tricky trying to open it with one free hand and the other full of post.
" He HAD BOTH HANDS FREE , I WATCHED HIM THROUGH MY WINDOW WRAPPING RUBBER BANDS AROUND HIS LETTERS AND PUTTING THEM IN HIS BAG. I WATCHED HIM PUT HIS BAG DOWN, AND I WATCHED HIM WRITE THIS THING OUT.
I can only offer my deepest sympathy madam. :hmmmm
Sorry postman still not back, ;liar come back monday it will be here then
Bye

I wouldn't hold your breath...it wouldn't matter if you turned up at some people's door with their mail freshly ironed on a silver plate....they would still complain.
It keeps the paid help in their place...the scruffy, lazy oik's..

Not half as much as the customers will squeal when TNT gives you mail 3 times a week if you're lucky and HDNL start throwing your precious small packets from the van door in the general direction of your house.
The staff at least can get another job...the customers will get,in some cases exactly what they deserve...not a lot.
I know. But what can you do ? Must admit I have more good ones than bad ones. The bad ones are real funny though. They get so uptight it's laughable.

My postman doesn't even bother knocking the door now because I used to leave for work early in the morning, he thinks I'm not going to be in. I'm forever going to the post office centre to pick up small packages that won't quite fit through the letterbox, but even though they don't need signatures, he won't leave them, simply because he can't be bothered to open the large box by the side of my door.
The post office ? Waste of time!! When they all lose their jobs and the service is completely obliterated, then they will complain. Like all of our institutions are becoming, Lazy, Unreliable, Scruffy and adopt an 'I don't care attitude'
Well if we're scruffy, unreliable and lazy how come i've been out delivering in a foot of snow for the last week and been to every drop everyday??? Oh and because of the snow it takes longer to walk around my duty, oh and if we're lazy how come we'll be moving heaven and earth to get all them xmas presents delivered in time?

we don't leave stuff on doorsteps/boxes/greenhouses etc because we're not allowed unless we have written permission from the persons who live in that property. that's called safe guarding your mail. unlike the dpd courier who left a box of all saints clothing on one of my customers front door step on wednesday just gone. it was there for 3 days, sat in the snow, for all passers buy to see/steal. anyhow ended up hammering on the door and telling him and he blamed good old royal mail until i informed that dpd had dumped it there! Humble pie!

The answer to that is for RM is to respond to the needs of customers and deliver later in the day and evenings. It should not be a case of too many packets for an address. Those parcels should be delivered in the way RM are legally contracted to do it. Many of the elderly and housebound shop entirely on-line now and they pay to have things delivered. It's not a free service as some posties here have tried to make us believe.

It's cheeky to say they refuse to deliver them because they think the householder is out and often take the parcels back without ringing the doorbell.

Royal Mail used to deliver early mornings and then changed to mid morning, afternoons. People complained that they
werent getting their mail at breakfast time. Now you want us to go out in the evening when you can see f**k all
just because you are not in
Why cant you get parcels delivered to your workplace?
The time has come to stop turning the other cheek, time to stop shaking our heads in bitter dismay, time to stop mumbling our angry words.

Sorry but the sender pays for the service and later and longer deliveries, less and earlier collections are apparently a response to those customers demands. Royal Mail as a business does not see receivers as customers merely a fulfilment solution. RM to be honest don't see sender as customers either unless there are sending out 100,000s or 1,000,000s of items a day.

Most Posties however still have that connection and for you to base your belief that we are all lazy, uninterested and scruffy on one individual is in of itself lazy and misguided. Perhaps the service you receive from him is a reflection of the way you treat him. I know I am more willing to help someone who respects me and my job and is grateful when I do something that helps them, than for someone who sees me merely as a servant and looks down on me just because I do a manual job.

This happens everytime their is a new postman on the route !! Another problem exists in that the house that they deliver our mail too is rarely inhabited ,and when it is ,the lady cannot be bothered to deliver ??? I have lost cheques and very important financial information in the 9 years we have lived here . We have complained on numerous occassions without anybody listening . For us the Royal Mail service has descended into a joke institution which has been led over the recent years by overpaid and incompetent figureheads !!! :lfo
There really isn't enough information here, but there is a contradiction. You, if you're ever likely to come back, have already indicated that the problem is repeated when a successive new post person delivers in your area. This kind of suggests to me that you may need to speak with your neighbour, so that a notice can be added somewhere in full view where a delivery person might easily see that your actual number is, in fact, around the corner.

If say, you are house number 1A, and your neighbour's number is 1, then asking your neighbour to kindly allow for a sign to be placed near their number should almost certainly solve this problem. Of course, I have no idea how your other neighbours may view you. I mean, they too may have their doubts about you, as I frankly do.

...An attitude much like yours' then? Should we now also assume that all customers are like you, and who have this same unhelpful attitude that you do towards us? No, I think not, mostly because you are not here to find out what possible reason there could be for your postman to do what he does. Shame that one of our customers like you are not intelligent enough to have inquired at an earlier stage as to why your postman was not doing what you feel is so obvious.

Hmm, but even a large box that can be accessed by anyone is still an invitation to do just that -- be accessed by anyone. Think about the many other unknown visitors you may have had in a day, week or whatever. Then again, this large box may have a one-way access -- or not. Who knows? How are we to know what is fact from your fiction?
We posties do things differently, but we still get shot at!

There are 3 different flat 1s on the road where I live but each one has a different postcode and for the last week or so it has only been my business letters being sent to the correct address 2 packages have been sent to one of the other flat 1 and nobody is living there and it is a heart rate monitor in that package so I need it asap but I don't know how to retrieve without breaking and entering but that is illegal and the people tah occupy that building at times are foreign exchange students so I don't know what to do.

How do you know it has gone to those other flats?

First step: you need to complain to Royal Mail, in writing.

I don’t think there is any way of getting the mail back without going round to the other flats and asking nicely.
