I liked this part

But modernisation isn’t just about cutting costs. It must not be just about cutting costs.

Modernisation is first and foremost about changing culture. It is about customer obsession and innovation: creating new revenue streams. Modernisation is about moving into higher value services as transactional mail moves online. And about having the confidence and ability and capital to do so.

Unfortunately, that is just how RM see it. Not all costs, of course. This bug :cfo ger has made over £8 million in five years. No, to RM it's us, the front-line staff who are the costs to be cut.
Just spilt stain-remover down my shirt. Now how do I get that out?

Both true statements - there is no doubt that there are restrictive practices within RM that are wasteful and although we are moving forward we haven't ever really settled into one system of working before some bright b*stard comes up with another - and more radical than the last. It's now Park and Loop, HCTs, Electric HCTs, but noone ever seems to evaluate these things properly before they are rolled out and become the new salvation.
