I think I mentioned a while back that there were only a couple left in our DO that were in the union and even they've opted out now. I'm afraid thats becoming common in some offices now. I presume the Union lost quite a few members since the pay and modernisation agreement went through.

Been a union member throughout my time with Royal Mail and not sure if I have feelings either way on that but then things have changed so much in last two years. I do know that most I work with felt it was not worth paying in anymore, for different reasons each and every one. Our managers are unusually good but guess its not the same all over.

Granted it is not the best lead union in the land and we all were dismayed at last year's fiasco!. But to change it you have to stay in it!. For apathy in voteing has lead to this situation and until we encourage democracy in our every day live's we will continue to have poor leadership!. Both in the union and in the land.

it's poor IR but a lot of the disputes seem orchestrated - oldest 50's spiv trick in the book - with a long line of cause and effect that leads to :lfo & :cfo it's hardly a surprise

Royal Mail to move its mail centre from the city, Cains brewery in the hands of receivers - if this can happen when Liverpool is City of Culture what's it going to be like there next year ?

Sadly, there's quite a few where I am, who are threatening to leave the Union. Although, so far, very few have actually carried out the threat. I can only hope, that they are bluffing, or we can convince them not to leave.

Time they put up or shut up then! Will as a result of withdrawing from the Union will they be treated anymore preferentially by Royal Mail?

I couldn't agree more. Particularly as none of them can be bothered to turn up to the Union meetings!

But we have to be careful, so we don't loose them. Not just because there is strength in numbers. But because they are the ones who are going to suffer in the long run, unless they have the sense to join an alternative Union. And actually make an effort with that one. Not that, that is very likley!
