Perleeese tman I've just eaten my tea and I got a vision of some boney arsed old bloke scampering round the bedroom holding a copy of Karl Marx in one hand and er....something else in the other :cry
Desparado's.

The argument's been won on this thread about 100 posts back I reckon - and events in the real world have consolidated that victory.

Tman is trying to gain cred by the name dropping of Noam Chomsky - which backfires all day long because anyone with half a brain can work out that he's never actually read any of his books. Enid Blyton maybe, but not Chomsky.

Fishtank is your brain box intellectual type - and he's trying to make out that the Brexit vote was some kind of a right wing conspiracy  :Very Happy

You really ought to move on from this level of debate jet. It doesn't make you look clever, perceptive or well-read in the slightest.

Who mentioned a conspiracy?, the Brexit vote is an example of an overall move towards right-wing policies by the UK electorate, part of a European wide shift in the political spectrum, You would have to be pretty delusional to imagine that radical left-wing policies are gaining ground anywhere, look more deeply ar France, Spain, Greece, Austria etc.

I wish to Christ Theresa May would call an election and put paid to this left wing charlatan once and for all and get rid of him. If the labour party had any sense they'd have him de-selected and get him out of the labour party altogether and join one of those extreme organisations that he and his cronies are trying to turn the labour party in to.

Err no. Merely referencing one old fraudster with another. There's no "street cred" (do people really still talk like this?) in mentioning the charlatan Chomsky.

They do in the Corbynista Camp Tman, they'll be sitting in the back street pubs, hashing over the old sayings, you know "peacenik" crap like "Ban the Bomb", "Make Love not war", "Far out", "Right On Dude" - maybe they'll revert to wearing flowers in their hair or a peace lily in the butt. :hmmmm

Never thought I would hear the Tories call themselves "the party of workers" and get away with it, with Corbyn abandoning the centre ground and heading off into the wilderness and everyone who doesn't support momentum tarred as a Blairite war mongoring capitalist pig dog there's a shitload of working-class voters out there with nowhere to go and the Tories look favourite to hoover them up.

Dark times ahead for the working class. A Tory government with a huge majority is a different animal to the Tory-lite government we have now, what Corbyn and momentum will go down in history for is unclear but I doubt it will be a favourable review.

As part of the sh1tload of working class voters I watched Theresa Mays speech and thought how well she did. Her appeal was universal and covered all the bases really for a one nation for all, you're never going to please everyone and the Brexit was still sketchy but immigration, the rule of law and trade was covered in brief.

Would I vote tory at the next election, well that would be a possibility I am afraid to say for the first time in my life. In all conscience I couldn't vote for Corbyn.

The feedback I'm getting from "non activist" Labour supporters is that they feel the party has been hijacked, whether that has any basis in fact is actually immaterial, perception is everything and Momentum/ Team Corbyn seem to be unwilling or unable (or both) to address that perception.

The only question left is how bad does it have to get before someone pulls the plug.

Now that Corbyn and his supporters feel vindicated by the recent leadership contest, probably very bad, and even worse, members will be reluctant to mount another challenge for some time no matter how bad things get.
Sadly it appears the Old Fraud is going to oversee the demise of the once-proud Labour party in it's present form. :cry

They have correctly discerned a shift in the political zeitgeist that you yourself claim isn't actually taking place. It isn't complicated.
That being said, the whole meritocracy thing isn't anything new from the Tories. They've been peddling that illusion for a very long time.

Isn't that what I've been telling you for the last several weeks :Very Happy At long last the truth is out there. Well done sir.
Don't beat yorself up about it DVB - I think its referred to as senescence. Along with what they call the "deferential" voter, its one of several explanations for the rather odd phenomena whereby the working class vote conservative.
If it weren't for the likes of yourself DVB, the UK would have a perpetual Labour government.
[FWIW I've mostly enjoyed your contributions to this thread DVB - you are a good craic.]

Anyhow, Dave Ward and the CWU are behind Jeremy Corbyn and socialism - as, it seems (from not only this but other threads around the same topics) is the majority of those using this forum. So all is well.

I think my work here is done gentlemen :cuppa

I too feel that the labour party has been hijacked by whoever is convinced that left wing policies are the way forward and I don't know how that has happened. In part I suppose, like many labour supporters and a once long time member you get older and less active and don't go to meetings. In my defence in my town of some fair size there is no longer a labour club where all meetings used to be held and social functions too both labour and trade union. Probably the downfall of both.

Do you think that the support Dave Ward and the CWU is somehow an acclamation that Corbyn and his acolytes are on the right track? DW has more or less done a disappearing act since he was elected, the CWU has signed away the rights of the workers in deal after deal and cannot maintain a membership so it's little wonder he wants to climb aboard the Corbyn band wagon to give him some sort of legitimacy. Like most things that DW and the CWU are involved with is political rather than taking care of it's membership.

Yes jet, your work is done, I always thought this thread was populated by one or two needing help in seeing the light, rather than having the light shine between the ears. My advice jet is switch the torch on by your left ear and you'll be able to make shadow figures on the wall if you hold your fingers close to your right ear :cuppa
