Obviously it will.
Just as the move to a single daily delivery did.
The increased delivery spans. Collections on delivery. 2D barcode scanning. Increased D2D. Delivery to neighbour.
The list is endless.

You could spend all day thinking up excuses as to why it can't work but the probability is it would.

The machine puts the mail in order. It makes little or no sense to take it out of the tray to put it in a frame to then take it back out of the frame and put it in a tray/pouch/trolley.
a few "against" reasons, as you appear to have 100% faith that the sequence mail is correct, throw in these permutations
missorts and redirection failures as said earlier could lead to coaching, stages then dismissal, the dom won't give a toss, they'll need to act on complaints and probably won't think twice to shat on the postie
then this process is designed to make us more efficient yes?
i regularly tweak loops once i've assessed them on a daily basis, if i feel its unbalanced that day due to 1 having more packets than usual and no large parcels to deliver i'll try to add more to the other, that idea would go straight out of the window,
you appear to be dead certain it will work, i'm 100% certain that the (say 30 mins saved) not prepping it into both frames at start will quickly be eaten up in time wasted before the end of the duty 1st complete,
again, households, will they officially be ok to nest multiple amounts if they don't come pre-prepped? because it will be impossible to deliver 3 or 4 lots correctly without feeding them into the frames
Why the obsession with the missorts? I don't have 100% faith in the machines in just the same way I don't have faith in any double prepper.
Should double prepping now be done away with because "it doesn't work?"
Why would tweaking the loops go out the window?
D2D - say you have got 1000 delivery points, you make up 200/day, neatly collated and deliver them. They don't need to be fed into a frame. They don't need to be nested. You make up bundles and deliver them from the back of the bundle. It isn't rocket engineering.
Lots of people with double slots and high rise blocks do this anyway.

Maybe they will introduce it. Maybe they won't.
Personally I couldn't care less. What I find completely bizarre is this childish "it won't work" response to anything that deviates even slightly from the way it was done on the ark.
I wonder if your attitude will be the same when the % of sequenced mail you have drops

Appears like Mark Baulch and the rest of the CWU have decided before the new methods have been tested all through the Christmas period to destruction that the new fail delivery methods will be imposed on us. Seems like they might call the trials off early before they have been fully tested as well. The CWU need to dump their political aspirations and just focus on their core task of the best interests of their members. If these new methods are allowed through they will have done the opposite.

Wasn't it Stoke Newington that had an EP of about 40?

I don't see what difference the holster makes. You have two bundles and a packet. You need to take the PDA out of the holster/ pouch / pocket, it doesn't matter which.

I struggle with one bundle. I can't hold the bundle and two packets, get out the PDA, scan packets, knock on door, get out pen, write out P739 put pen back, post P739 enter 'No Answer' on PDA, put it back, put packets back into bag, post letter, crack on.

Very misleading as none of the required systems of EP or IWT was updated in the office or recorded. Their Weighted Items per work hour and their Weighted Items per gross hour which Off com us were high.

In terms of the Delivery Office Trial where Royal Mail believed that had found a silver bullet to efficiency in the way of not sorting sequencing work and D2D into a frame was proven to be unworkable.

In Stoke Newington"s case the trial was a sham and these are the reasons :

1. It can only work if Mail Centres produce 85% of work on a first wave on a daily basis. At the moment the top achieving mail centres are doing 85% and the worst 65%. Additionally due to the over night closures of the m1 and m6 are causing further delays in providing reliable mail flows to facilitate 85% of work on the first wave every day.

2. Because there was no work until the IPS was started ie nothing to prep , no double prep , than part timers who performed a pair on CDVs were never ready at the same time as a full timer on the same CDV.

3. The growth in Chinese parcels was a particularly problem bench merging.

Remember because the plan was you did not touch the first wave of work. Than there was no work to do until you prepped the manual and got your second wave of work which you would sort into the frame and than bench merge the work with your first wave, Due to the problems on the M1 and M6 the work on the second wave was often to much to really bench merge and often the trial was stopped to prevent a failure.

Remember this trial was carried out in the lightest period of the year and still failed to work.

As a result of this a number of the trail offices have been stopped and it is clear that Royal Mail"s policy of not throwing up sequencing work into a frame is another failed strategy.

Which means what for the flight path to a 35 hour week?

Royal Mail in its present form are now having big difficulties with just an hour off the working week. Its only working at our office at the moment by bringing part time staff in earlier on overtime to help put the mail in the frames. Obviously, this was never the plan. To be fair, I was looking forward to the SWW but if we are not bench merging to save time, how else do we save time?

How about starting later and shortening the delivery spans? :left:

Only way it would work is to either start later or finish earlier and shorten walks with a load of new employees.

RM didn't expect such a large scale of OPG's stopping giving them work for free once the SWW came in. Unbelievable the numbers which have now reverted to proper start times and the whole unit has gone to pot. :nana :nana :nana You can bet your bottom dollar RM in its infinite wisdom factored in a rough guess on how much free time they could get away with being done when planning these new "trials".

Lets face it the jobs f****d and we were our worst enemies and anything and everything RM bring in is just going to fail and fail spectacularly because the business has been mismanaged for years especially in DO's.

This "new way of delivery" was more than likely suggested by a postie? Every office as one or more, always in the office with a parcel or letter, always talking to manager, sorting out his days off & overtime, who works with who, changing the fitting, we pull it out this way, more than lightly a first aider, gets letters published in that RM magazine, it's time these idiot postmen are brought to justice named & shamed with their stupid ideas & sacked, let the gaffas be the gaffa.

Now I am guessing you’re just trolling here. The new was of working were an idea of Royal Mails senior Management team. Do you honestly think RM would listen to a postie for this? If you do then you are deluded
