The CWU has NOT agreed to Saturday off OPG's not getting a day back on their annual leave. The RML/CWU agreement is for days off falling on bank holidays to be credited back to annual leave. Yesterday was NOT a bank holiday as the Secretary of State used his powers to change the bank holidays from SAT/SUN to MON/TUES.

However working on Xmas day is not on the agenda thus generating a extra day off work that is not part of our contracted time away from work entitlement. In previous years RML has clawed back the hours from those due to work Saturday thus meaning we all stay equal in time away from work. This meant the majority working extra hours without overtime with the minority (Saturday off) not having to work any extra hours as Saturday is thier offical day off.

However the CWU powers that be,have persuaded RML to drop clawback for which we should all :Applause them for.

Unfortunatley the powers that be,have not yet achived a agreement to cover days off that fall on no service days  but are determined to get one in time for any extra leave day being credited to ones entitlement to be taken before the end of the 2011/2012 leave year.

CWU mbrs in my D.O have questioned why this issue is sill kicking around when it happened last year as well, they feel it should have been tackled well before this Xmas. The BT2010 agreement would have been a good veichle to have achived it .
